2 days...
without a cigarette, but i'm getting a major craving now!!!! Damn it. I think i'm gonna give in. Grrr!
must be hard dude, my friend is almost a pack a day smoker and he's been trying to quit for awhile now (bout 2 years)
Usually its when we're drunk that he has deep philosophical thoughts about life and he says "thats it im quitting for good now, i gotta live my life to the fullest..blah blah blah" whatever
Good luck, try to stick with it, youll feel a lot better as time goes on
best thing that worked for me to get rid of the cravings was working out
ahhh cigarette cravings...
...like heroin addiction, only legal.
i used to smoke about 25-30 a day
quit 6 months ago
its fucking easy to quit, after the first week thats it. your quit
get them nicorette patches, they are fucking great - i couldnt have done it without them!
Yeah its really hard. But i still dint smoke one! Im listening to music and making plans for tonight. Maybe I'll make it 3 days!!
sometimes it's not so much the craving for nicotine that gets to you, but also the actual action of smoking. my friend quit by chewing on straws (although he looked like an idiot sometimes trying to smoke a straw), but it worked for him. the pysical addiction sucks, but the mental addiction can often be worse.
start doing chewing tobacco like redman only when you get a bad craving. youll be able to stop chewing a lot easier trust me.
Well just to help you stay off of the fags, here's what you're lungs will look like if you dont:
Enjoy!!

well what are your reasons for quitting right now?
y not maybe just cut back by changing some everyday habits that drive you to smoke?
mmm..i had one just after i went to the gym. it was so nice. you dont want to quit. its good to smoke. give in, its easier anyways.

Originally posted by hadi ****** i used to smoke a pack a day for about 2 years. cigarettes are stupid, they dont do anything for you except fuck up your lungs. and why dont you think about the reason you smoke. can you come up with a good reason? i never could.
fuck, all this talk makes me want anotherone. havn't had one since the one after the gym..so ok!

Originally posted by hadi ****** in my mind that is not a good reason, but you are smoking for your "benefit" not mien . i think we should do whatever we want (despite other peoples critcism). im not hear to try and stop you, im just putting opinion

Originally posted by DigiNut That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. If you don't want to quit, then fine, but don't say "I quit and now I only smoke when I want to." At least admit to yourself that it's an addiction. If you still smoke, you didn't quit, period. God, I hate it so much when people can't admit their lack of willpower and even try to pass it off as something good. No, I'm sorry, it may make you happy, but as someone who doesn't smoke but has numerous friends that do, I find it an absolutely sickening habit, it's worse than picking your nose or scratching your ass, and if someone's going to smoke in my presence then they better do it outside and blow it away from me, and it might also be nice if they used a fucking ashtray instead of littering their crushed butts everywhere without a care in the world. And as for smoking after sex? If a girl ever lights up in my bed, it'll be the last fucking time she ever lies down in it. For cryin' out loud, when someone's trying to quit something that they're addicted to (in this case, smoking), don't encourage them NOT to! I'll post my support in favour of whoever said that cigarettes aren't exactly "crucial" to anything.

Originally posted by crchingtiger i'm not encouraging them not to smoke... if you noticed, my first post in this thread was simply questioning their reasons for quitting because i'm curious... and if anything, i'm encouraging them to do what they want...that's ultimately what it's about

Cigarettes don't happen to be one of those silly anti-drug campaigns that the government pushes on us because they can't regulate it (in fact they DO regulate it, so it's not really out of self-interest). It's been thoroughly researched and directly linked to physical addiction and serious long-term health risks. Plus, it's disgusting. There are many good reasons to quit smoking, and I don't think it's appropriate to be telling people to continue doing it because they feel like it, especially when the person wants to quit. And yes, I believe that you DO smoke when you want, but that hardly means you have it under control - I'd say it's leaning toward the opposite.COLOR] |

Originally posted by crchingtiger personally, i don't give a shit about the long term. why? because any way you look at it, you're going to die a statistic. you could die tomorrow for all you know...i'm not being pessimistic, i'm being realistic. ... however, in my mind, what's "best" for you goes hand-in-hand with what you enjoy doing.
keep it up ^^

Originally posted by DigiNut That's an interesting philosophy, but everybody gets stuck with whatever choices they make in life. In all likelihood, we're talking statistically, forget pessimistic or realistic, if you make bad decisions or form self-destructive habits now, you're going to regret that instant gratification when you're spending the last 50 years of your life dealing with them. None of my business though, you can do what you like with your life - I just don't particularly like to see people extolling the virtues of smoking to somebody who's trying to quit - if you think it's not our place to question your reasons for smoking, then who are you to question his reasons for quitting? Maybe he just WANTS TO QUIT.
I gave in
