Searching for female singer. How would I do this ?

Hey,

I got a sweet production in progress, but I want to add a vocal this time. I got nice lyrics for it. And basically it should be a nice voice, and well recorded, in a professional studio.

How would I start my search for a female singer ? Do they have databases somewhere with 'amateur-singers' that we can access ?

Also does anybody know how long it normally takes to have this recorded ? I mean we would rent the studio, and have the engineer record it as good as possible. What would this cost me more or less ?

Is it done that you don't actually pay the singer, but give her a cut of the possible money you'd make with the sales ?

Hope to get some help..

Thanks

You could always talk to a label and have them arrange a vocalist for you. If they like the track enough it shouldn't be a problem.

If you're doing stuff for a label (or plan on getting the song published), then go talk to your label and ask them for help.
If you're doing this for yourself for distribution on the internet or something like that, I'd suggest you buy a microphone instead of renting a studio. As far as I know, the hour in a studio can range from 100$-3000$ !!! But then again, I live in Iceland so....
Also, if you're doing this the amateur way ... You must know at least girl who can sing try asking someone you know first..

Be aware that I am myself a small time home-studio amateur and I don't know much about recording, but this is what I would do!

Sure, a really good singer would be great, but since when was that really a requirement for trance ? 90% of the commercial tunes got really crappy vocals.
Go for the hooker, heh.

Hey BelgianGuru - Im a vocalist that has been singing professionally for just over a year now. I have a recording studio in my basement so it wouldn't be a problem to record properly for you. Let me know if you'd like to hear some of my stuff.
You can contact me through here (PM) or add me to msn - [email protected] (e-mail - [email protected])
I'm currently working on my 2nd demo so I'm always looking for new productions to add to my demo. Love to hear from you. latah
