Yeah pretty much. There was a TA meeting in TO and 32 competitors arrived to compete for MOD status. of the 32, only 4-5 gave the best head, thus became mod.

Swamper gave mods to some of the first posters who he felt would be responsible & do a good job, eg tu_face, Wicked_Neo, Lynx etc etc

However the reason for Arturo getting them is still a mystery

And coup bugged Del so much he gave him the polls forum cos no1 else wanted it

Yep that will go down as one of the biggest unsolved mysteries ever, how arturo got to be a mod.

There is moderation there, only yesterday i deleted several threads by Arj01 which had 2 replies or less on them.

Arj01 is not really doing anything wrong in there, as long as ppl veiw the stuff he posts and reply and as long as there is no pr0n or racist crap in there.

There is very little porn in there, at the mo i belive page 1 contains none at all, u will prolly be able to dig some porn out of there but porn gets posted in this forum too.

And over the last 2 days i have deleted about 20 threads that were pure spam in the humour section.

Belive me, that forum is moderated so don't even think of becoming a member of the +1 alliance

Unsolved Mysteries gave up on how art became a mod.

Anyway, most mods were either elected by their own forums (regional) or most were picked by Swamper.

Take a look at the unknown tracks section. They needed a mod who answered tracklists (which I did more of before search came in to use). So I got picked and then there was a hole to fill, so we suggested andih (the unknown tracks id machine). Most mods have been around a long time (since 2000 or 2001). Neo, Myself, Jayd, taha, tu_face and others have been around a long time and swamper trusts most of us. Take a look at the forum leaders section which shows all the moderators, most of us have insanely high post counts and have been around before sept 2001.
