-- Pickton gets another 7 charges
Pickton gets another 7 charges
you can read it on cbc.ca
Robert Pickton has received another 7 first degree murder charges, not yet filed but the crown will proceed with 22 first degree murder charges against him. Trial is expected to take 1-2 yrs, expected to start in early 2005. But get this, digging up his ranch cost taxpayers 70 MILLION! dollars. Since the RCMP did that, the federal gov't picked up the tab. They say if he is found guilty, the crown will immediately seek a dangerous offender hearing (which if found that, he is locked up FOREVER). I think this will end up costing an insane amount of money. I think he will be found guilty but 22 charges of murder is a Canadian record for one person.

Hahah $70M to dig up a ranch! With that kinda money i could build a shopping mall on that land! Some lucky contractor with friends in the government is cashin in large! Of course, the contact gets a cut. We all know how it works. And no one cares.

I don't mean to be cruel or offensive in any way.
but put yourself in thier shoes
let's imagine for a second we are a mother, father, daughter, son, etc. of a victim. And we're told by a nice R.C.M.P. officer
"We're really sorry, but this whole investigation is costing us too much money, so we'll have to give up and just go on what we got".
how you feel? to know that you loved one is problalby buried in that farm or somewhere close and meanwhile, the poeple sworn to protect you and uphold your rights aren't doing everything humanly possible to bring the murderer to justice.
Now we come into justice, The Canadian people (or anyone for that matter) cannot put a pricetag on justice, as soon as we've done that, we're no longer human. NO matter what laws are in place, no matter who rules what, Justice has always prevailed in one form or another, and once we cap it in any way, we stand to lose it forever.
my two cents.
