was wonderin if theres a tutorial out there, or if anyone can give advice on arranging beat samples in a sequencer (cubase)
like putting the kick in 1/4 quantisize in each block, but advice on putting the rest

Start with the basic pattern (4/4 kick, 2/4 clap/snare) and just go from there. There's no real rule to it, just make sure you have enough layers (all different, of course) to make it driving and thick.

Another thing is variation. A track can get boring quickly if you have the same thing looping over and over. Just by shifting 1 drumbeat/hihat every now and then you can make mini-fills that keep the track interesting.

Also, loops aren't as bad as they tell you as long as they don't steal the show. A hip hop loop played quietly on double speed underneath the main percs can spice up your track quite a lot.

That's it, really. Experimentation is the key.

And If you can program yourself you can always use ready made rex files TIP: for n00bs I recommend to use rex files because they have life on it! you can always program your drums over it!! For example use some kind of bongo and percussion loop and add your own bassdrum and hihats over it!
