Thumbs up Ferry Corsten

I must say, to me this guy is a hero. He's a fantastic DJ and very under rated, i have only seen him twice this year (though im going to see him on friday) and both have been fantastic sets. PvD and Armin have their radio shows and their record labels, Tiesto is No1 and pretty much gets away with everything but Ferry is both a great DJ and producer. His new album isnt too bad, and Rock Your Body Rock and Right of Way are fantastic!

I really hope he makes it into the Top 5 DJs list next year.

Posted by Evil_Gnome on Dec-16-2003 00:42:

He is a great DJ yes, but how can somebody who is one of the top 10 djs in the world be under rated?

Posted by mike_stefan69 on Dec-16-2003 00:43:

look at the amount of threads in this forum dedicated to PvD, Tiesto, Armin or Gabriel & Dresden and you'll see what I mean...

Posted by Evil_Gnome on Dec-16-2003 00:46:

Doesnt mean he is under rated. Plus many of the threads about those guys are flame threads.

Exactly!

ferry has done so much great songs and remixes so i forgive him for making crap like 'rock your body rock' and those other recent tunes.

Posted by mike_stefan69 on Dec-16-2003 01:38:

im sorry i dont agree
i think rock your body rock is a great tune. when he dropped it at the nec 10000 ravers were going mad. and every time ive heard it since its brought a smile to my face...
exactly the same thing can be said for right of way. its different from the run of the mill trance that has been produced this year. both tunes are party tunes to an extent, they make people have a great time

crap ehh. "I'm gonna have to kinda, disagree with you on that one. Yeah," Just my personal opinion but I think it's so kick ass that someone can take a nu-skool element and perfectly interweave it with a powerful trance hook. Just my 2 cents though.

Elevate - DJ Ferry Corsten

One of the greatest trance tracks ever.. This track is what trance should be!

Posted by Cobalt on Dec-16-2003 02:13:

I think Right of Way (the single) has been hugely underrated by just about everyone. I don't see how any of the uplifting garbage out there can even compare to it (nevermind the fact that they shouldn't bother trying to upstage the uplifting work he pioneered years ago). The direction Ferry is now taking in production is at least some sort of attempt to break from the super-synth cookie-cutter mold, and he should be recognized for that.

I think he's an excellent DJ, though when I saw him live not too long ago he was lacking on progression, tending more towards anthem-dropping, particularly near the end.

Ferry Corsten Vs. The Thrillseekers - Sublime = OMFG I DIE !!

One of my fav all time producers , still yet to see him spin live

Love Poundin' Sensation

I too am in love with his new cd. Along with both his Global Trancemissions cds.

Ferry is amazing...extremely underated as well...

primarily becuz his style at the moment is extremely innovative and that's what trance needs!

Posted by tc-fan on Dec-16-2003 06:16:

i love also "show your style"..rocks...

Posted by Lofu_X on Dec-16-2003 06:39:

Ferry Corsten rocks. His new songs Rock your body rock, RIght of Way and Punk are great. It's nice to see him going away from cookie cutter epic trance everyone seems to be trying to do. His new songs are better than most of his old stuff IMO.

Posted by J-LoOks on Dec-16-2003 06:43:

His diversity and because hes not scared to move out of his normal style makes him a good producer , he produces some of the most melodic uplifting trance i have ever heard its so unique i dont think there is any other producer that produces any tunes any where like his i fucken love it

Posted by KaOtiK1 on Dec-16-2003 06:48:

Ferry is a great DJ way better than Tiesto i think.. he should diffently be in the top 10..

Posted by Dmatrox on Dec-16-2003 06:50:

Not underrated, not overrated.

I think tiesto is great, he makes people go totally nuts and the energy he has is amazing.

Posted by UnBracKo on Dec-16-2003 19:16:

Ferry sets are amazing!! My fav. Dj, excellent uplifting sessions. I think he is a bit underrated as a Dj not as a producer or remixer. He won the best remixing award in the year 2000 and his productions are hits over the world so in this point no is underrated, maybe cos' after have done one of the best tunes ever (Out of the blue) he started to be famous, and demanded. Also in some cases Ferry's productions (for me a Ferry addict) are a bit overrated.
The publicity is the way for become overrated.

Posted by goose_wh on Dec-16-2003 20:14:

General consensus is that Ferry is fantastic, but hes definitely not under-rated.

His sets are always fantastic (ive never heard or seen a bad one from him), the big beats and slightly faster more pumping style he plays are the perfect antidote to the slow paced stuff expected from Armin etc. He seems to read the crowd pretty well to knowing what to drop when.

Ferry & Marco V are currently the main "big room" trance dj's worth following imo... the harder, techier edge is the way forward. uplifting has been done to death (though if another Gouryela were to come out i wouldnt complain)

Jester

yeh Ferry is amasing but i like PvD and Tiesto also. Theme from norefjell by Tiesto is awesome, is this song something with norwegian too do? i think that norefjell is a mountan i norway, not sure

Posted by Bondor on Dec-16-2003 23:19:

i think that ferry is the best ever. when he came to play in LA, a fan had brought system F - exhale on vinyl and was waving it at him from the crowd the whole night. near the end of the show he walked over to the kid and the kid gave him the vinyl. he then ended the show with exhale ... it was so fucking tight ...drooool jsut thinking about it.

at that show ferry was really getting into it, it was soooooooo tight, watching an energetic dj is SOOOOOOOO much more fun...
