Hey what's up everybody. Ok this is 'problem' I have encountered. I say that cause it isn't the biggest deal in the world or necessarily a problem depending on who you talk to. Anyways, I have one mp3 that wont let me fix its' name, I capitalize the title and it goes back to uncapitalized. Is this an ID tag issue? I also have several mp3s that cannot be converted to .WAV and will not show up in Napster. I am sure this is a safety device to prevent widespread piracy(I got these mp3s at mp3.com), but I know hackers find a way around almost everything, so I was wondering if anyone else knew any tricks here. Check the ID3 tag and see if it says "copyrighted"... Dunno if that would affect it but it's easy to change this and there's programs around that do it for u....

Okay, when you look at the Mp3 in a folder right click it and go to properites, click "Archive" and not "Read Only" that should help. If you're on a macintosh...Click on file and press the button that looks like an apple on the keyboard (the "command" button) + I . It should bring up the file's information and click the button that says "locked" and it should unlock there. Then you should be able to fix the name of the song

Well Positiva, you were right on the name thing, but the little bastard files I am trying to encode actually crash the program I am trying to use! It really sucks and the copyright thing is not the prob.

The files are:
Static Revenger - Happy People
and
Static Revenger - Time to Get Back

The program is CDEX v1.3 b8

Can anyone else help? This sucks. Thanks.

Mmm that sucks, Static Revenger isnt gonna be easy to get another copy of. Are you encoding into wav format? & What platform are you running off of?

I had some mp3-files which could be played ok with winamp or ultraplayer. However, when I tried to burn them as audio (with Adaptec Easy CD Creator), the length of the song was either way too short or something like several days ... in other words; fucked. I had no problems with the ID-tags though. Anyway, a workaround for this was to use GoldWave;
I simply opened the mp3 file in GoldWave and saved it so that GW re-encoded the file (after decoding). After that, the tune worked ok also as audio CD.

Nevertheless, this might solve your problem too.

Yep, encoding to WAV, running WIN98. I will try the GoldWave thing tho, sounds like it might work. Thanks everybody...peace.
