Gabriel & Dresden get residency w/ Spundae San Francisco - First gig Jan 16...

I seem to always encounter posts on this board about people going to SF and asking what they should check out or people simply in SF who don't visit the west coast boards....

Anyhow, just wanted to state that it was revealed today that Gabriel & Dresden are starting a residency with Spundae SF(Spundae's home base) with their first gig being a FIVE HOUR set on JANUARY 16, 2004 @ 1015 Folsom!

G&D won't be playing for Spundae in February because of a prior engagement, but after that expect to see them here in SF (mainly at 1015 on Spundae Sonic Fridays) monthly...hopefully five hours every time.

Thought you might be interested if ya didn't know and are around here...

A while ago I was like damn G&D should play more in their hometown of SF because I'm right across the bay to them in Berkeley!

Cool, they are spinning here in Toronto on the 17th.

Has anyone seen then live? Just curious as what to expect.

They opened for Tiesto back in October here and they blew everyone away. Like people who didn't expect much from them....

They are getting better at the DJing skills as they play more....

My word, you're an intelligent fellow!

With their beatmatching, I heard a lot of the same stuff in the past...then I saw Josh Gabriel play at Anu here in SF back in August or something and he was great...and then when Dave and Josh opened for Tiesto here in late October, they blew me away....as they got deeper into their sets, they just got better! Can't recall any bad mistakes or anything. No beatmatching problems that is.

That night made me a fan of theirs as DJs.

Gotta understand, I was really worried going into that night...came out happy. HAPPPPYY!!!

I saw them when they opened up for Tiesto and I didn't hear any trainwrecks. I thought they played an awesome set.

omfg LMAO

americans with a sense of humour? omg the world is changing

seriously though, G&D rock as DJ's, using accapellas, loops and samples, realtime, in their sets. Highly skilled stuff!

Posted by GRIN on Jan-05-2004 18:46:

Mr. DJ kyo doesn't look like he can even spell correctly so I am not bothered by what he has to say. People just pick apart people that are well known and try to find their flaws because they have nothing better to do.

Posted by bishop on Jan-05-2004 19:40:

Do you guys know what program they use on their mac when they dj? Their layering of the tracks is very unique, kelis vs clocks? This is probably the wrong thread but I figure G&D fans would check this thread.

Posted by djkyo on Jan-05-2004 21:35:

its called final scratch, i mean first of all most of you were not even there that night so why dont you try to down load the live and see what i mean, how i said before they are excellent producers i love there productions dont get me wrong but dont be blind and say that there dj skills are amazing cuz they are not, and yes i cant wait till they come on january to sf again for the 4 hour set if i can ill recorder the set and show you guys how bad they mix...

Posted by dj_mdma on Jan-06-2004 11:17:

everytime i've seen them they have always performed up to standard. I've seen their UK debut at Turnmill in October last year
I saw them at Gatecrasher London 28/11
and i saw them at Gatecrasher NEC 29/11

and UKTA's who do not like G&D were impressed by their technical skills (isn't that right Mike )

Dave doesn't use the mac when he mixes, only josh does. Well, from what i've seen

Posted by davedresden on Jan-06-2004 17:57:

kyo

it's called ableton live. get your facts right.

the kids was asking what program they use when they spin, and is final scratch they use that instead of binyls, next time pay more attention dude you always like to talk without knowing shit i am for real and just for that i am gona charge you 100$ per lessions for acting like a newbie

PvD uses, and is the main advocate of Final Scratch, an advanced form of Traktor
G&D use Ableton Live http://www.ableton.com/index.php?main=live
this statement makes sense as they are always dropping in accapellas and loops and various samples everytime they play.
