Place to upload mix sets

Just wondering if there was anywhere I could upload some of my mix sets for everyone to hear???

Anybody got an ftp or other kind of site people could download them from?? I'm not able to set up an ftp on my computer at home cause my ISP is behind a firewall and they won't give me the info to set up an ftp.

I've got quite a few sets. Over 10 hours of music I'd love to share with everyone.

that doesnt make too much since. who is your isp? how is your computer setup, is it:
a.) DSL/Cable Modem --> Computer
b.) DSL/Cable Modem --> Router/Switch --> Computer

if it is "a." then you are not behind a firewall and you should be able to just setup an ftp. if it is choice "b." you are more than likely behind your own firewall (note: cable modems with routers inside them are part of "b."). For this choice, you will have to set the router to forward all port requests for your ftp port (by default, 21) to the computer which has your ftp software on it. your cable company prob. wont tell you how because they dont want server traffic on their network.

Well, I hadn't thought of the modem having it's own firewall. I do understand what you're saying. My service provider is a local company run by the city. I'm on cable access.

The NICs are assigned a static IP address. I have tried to set up an ftp program on my computer before and used port 21, but didn't have any luck.

My old service provider, Charter Communications, used a leased IP address. You could release and renew the IP address and pull different ones. With them I never had any problems with ftps, but the service was shitty and the provider I'm with now has a package deal with electricity, cable, internet and phone all together and it comes out substantially cheaper. Plus the service is great and the speeds are at least twice as fast as Charters.

Anyway, another problem I have had is transfering files through AIM or Yahoo Messenger. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I've checked the settings in both messenging programs and tried them in all combinations, but it never makes a difference.

the transferring files could be because the person you are transferring from/to is behind a firewall and doesnt have the port opened. also, try setting up your ftp to a high port like 21112 or something up there like that and see if that works.

Alright, I'll try that and see what happens. Thanks for the advice.
