Shame / Disagreement Everyone vote, the AFA wants your vote!

The American Family Association is asking for your opinion on gay marriage! They intend to present the results of their poll to Congress, and I think it's a fabulous idea. However, they've made an oversight in their polling method, and I'm hoping to correct it for them. I just know in my heart of hearts that they want to do the right thing here. You see, they only posted the poll on their own website, but being a politically-oriented website their readership is going to be mostly of the one opinion on the matter, which would skew the poll results one way or another. I'm hoping to bring the poll to the attention of readers of more diverse political persuasions, thereby making the poll a more accurate reflection of the general public's attitudes. After all, the AFA, as followers of Christ Jesus, are undoubtedly concerned first and foremost with presenting an honest and truthful representation of the people's views to Congress. If you would care to help the AFA in their quest for truth by casting your vote, click here.

No need to thank me, AFA.

Actually, I was going for the other option... Hopefully your just being sarcastic. Even if you are though, I'll be labled a "stupid American" for not being completely sure your trying to be funny... ah well, come on and vote to legalize ALL marriges.

Don't tell us how to vote. You did your part and posted the site, we'll vote however we please.

Not going to debate this here either - the topic's already been brought up in the political forum.

It was more of me taking a stance (and letting it be known) then telling you how to vote. I'm all for free thinking. If you want to vote the other way, go for it, but I believe I'm allowed to state my opinion. Sort of like saying "Go team #1!". You don't get mad at the other person for saying that, even if you want team #2 to win...

Thank you for your keen yet pointless observation.

Just pointing out that it's rather odd that you are fine with lesbians, or are you ? It's hot, as long as they don't get married ?

Posted by PhloTron on Dec-18-2003 02:36:

Isn't the question about marriage? What does that have to do with the generalization of gay being ok? Just because a person is opposed to gay marriages doesn't mean they are opposed to people being gay. Two separate issues....two separate answers.

So they are allowed to be gay, but somehow marrige is wrong ? Again, I just cannot understand the problems people have with it. How is (gay) marrige hurting ANYONE ? Shit, I think it'd be pretty easy to argue that the divorce rate among straight couples is much more harmful than gay marrige.

If your fine with people being gay, why can't they have the same rights as everyone else ?

Ah, a little more info about the AFA poll:
quote:

An astute observer has caught the AFA red-handed falsifying the results of their poll to be more to their liking...

Thanks to one of our readers for pointing this out. Earlier, Achilles posted about the American "Family" Association's marriage poll and several posters wondered why anyone would trust the AFA to fairly conduct such a poll. It turns out they were right to be cynical and mistrusting of this upstanding and moral organization.
An astute observer noticed that unlike votes in places other than Florida and where Diebold machines are used, the number of votes for the answer, "I favor legalization of homosexual marriage" went down rather than up as the AFA cooked the books. In the first screen shot at 10:57 AM, the percentage is 16.10 (21075 votes); in the second taken at 11:22, it is 14.05 (17985 votes). One person commented in the comments area of the posting at 11:33 that it was down to 13%.

The AFA claims that it was just removing multiple votes from "someone on the pro-homosexual side of the issue" because of course, that many votes couldn't possibly come from actual people, now could they? I trust they've gone and validated that nobody's run a script against the votes opposing gay marriage too, right? Note that the poll requires you to enter your name, email address and zip code; surely these had to be unique for the votes to be accepted the first time. If it were anybody other than the AFA, I might be willing to grant them the benefit of the doubt and believe their story, but this is the AFA. They're known liars who'll do and say anything, no matter how morally reprehensible to get their way.

In any case, the fact that they have admitted that they've manually adjusted the numbers invalidates the poll. Its results, no matter what they are, cannot now be trusted. The AFA has doctored the results of this poll and admitted to it. Will they be telling that to Congress when they present their findings?

This topic is far over discussed.

Puh-leeze. We like lesbians for only one reason, and that's because it's (pardon my French) twice the pussy and none of the cock. Enjoying the sight of two very good-looking females going at it is far, far from supporting their marriage. If the law were based entirely on our biological and hormonal instincts, we would have a very different legal system.

You can call me closed-minded all you like, but I have to say that equating gay-marital-opposition to gay-bashing is not just a straw-man argument, but a ridiculously inane one.

Read Sara's link to the political forum if you want, I'm not about to discuss it here in any further detail.

America's Poll on Homosexual Marriage
I oppose legalization of homosexual marriage and "civil unions" 49.44%
(120542 votes)
I favor legalization of homosexual marriage 43.46%
(105954 votes)
I favor a "civil union" with the full benefits of marriage except for the name 7.10%
(17298 votes)

These results are certainly heartening.

got to spread the word. good looking out mate.

plus this all fits into my 95% theory. As in when you say "I hate women they are nuts" and then you realize that you hate men too, because they have been such dumbasses it has come to this point, and what about the people who made the men act like that? who raised these people? you then realize you hate everyone, well , wait no, you do have SOME friends, and some people you meet are cool...Ok only 95% of people suck.

Dont mix flu meds with Duvel

i'm a little mixed about the topic. gay mariages are OK by me i guess, BUT i am against gay couples raising children (about 80% against it). when i was in middle school/high school, i was best friends w/ a girl who lived with her mom and her "aunt". it turned out that her mom is a lesbian and her "aunt" was her mom's partner (she told me a couple years later). anyway, looking back, my friend was really mixed up and depressed a lot in high school and she had a LOT of anger and resentment towards her mom and "aunt". i say this cuz she treated them like shit and was always rude and disrespectful. her mom and "aunt" spoiled the crap out of her and let her get away with whatever she wanted...probably because they felt they had to compensate her for their choice of being gay and wanting a kid. i think it really bothered her that her family was "different". she was probably scared to death of anyone finding out. that puts a lot of pressure on a kid, so that's why i'm against it. the other 20% of why i'm FOR it, is because i guess i'd rather see a kid raised by 2 loving (and gay) people rather than being jumped around from foster home to foster home and end up a delinquent. just my 2 cents

PS_ that girl is now a full blown lesbian and told me that i was her first love in high school
