sony mdr-v6 or mdr-7506...
... hahah.. i'm evil...
I like the 7506 - I dont like the V models, they are poorly crafted.
hmm looks like i deleted my own entry... i was wondering if anyone knew of a place in the city that sold the sony mdr-v700 dj headphones for 100$ new?
i saw them online for 94$ new, but i don't want to pay for shipping and (possible) tax. thanks everyone!

I think the Sony's suck, but thats just my opinion, Im torn between getting Pioneer HDJ-1000's and the HD280's. I hate the Sony V model because the hinge that holds up the ear cups is pure crap.

the headband near the hinge on my HD280's broke too... I'm using 7506's now and they sound better than the sennheisers in my opinion... much better contruction too... more metal.. less plastic...

the sony MDR-V6 are identical to the 7506 except for the gold plug... they were the last decent V model sony ever made... forget the mdr-v700....

Well from all the threads Ive read in the DJ booth about headphones the V700s arent that good. What I have learned about headphoens is you know what you like, choosing headphones is about testing and preference.

I got a SONY MDR-201 headphones.....LOL
Just joking...I don't have a professional Dj headphones "Pioneer" is the BEST...
Sony sucks...
I got techncis 1200a Silvers and lvove them..
Also tops are: Pioneer ($199) and Sennheiser...
Search gluegun's reviews @ DJ forum..
I'm on my second pair of 700's now due to that flimsy hinge piece. Decided to buy them again because I love the sound and feel of them.
If you own a pair or are looking to purchase a pair don't fold 'em up. Folding them puts pressure on the hinge causing it to break.
i love the mdr 7506's!

i've had a pair of the v700s for abit over 2 years and they are still going strong. i love them, my only gripe about them is that they are a tad heavy. my next pair of headphones will probably be the 7506s. a friend of mine has 7506s and i like them but until something happend to my 700s i'm not replacing them.
all this crap about the v700s being junk is stupid. maybe the hinges do brake, i dont know, but before they brake they are really nice headphones for djing. hence so many dj having them.

whoop
I have the 7506's...they are pretty nice,
but the Technics 1200 headphones are sooo much nicer
Sennheiser HD280 Silver <<<- those are the ones I use
I've had the MDR-V600 for years now and if I ever had to replace them I would with the same SONY brand. The only thing wrong are it's foam cups are a tad worn but that's only after years of use.
You can try J & R (www.jandr.com) since they offer better pricing.
