Disconnect

O.K when my download speeds get to go too fast my internet disconnects me (my Rogers@Home connection here does it and so does the DSL account at my apartment).

With Rogers I just have to disconnect the modem and reconnect it and wait but with the DSL connection I have to restart the computer. Is there any way I can avoid the disconnection alltogether? It's annoying because I leave downloads overnight and in the morning I find I got disconnected, so what can I do?

You have to log on/connect with DSL? I have cable and I'm always connected. I was under the impression that DSL was always connected too.

Technically it IS always connected, but you have to type in your user/pass but most routers can take care of that.

well i need to find out how to make my internet not disconnect me because even my cable modem disconnects me. i need to either have something reboot my modem or something or just prevent it from being disconnected or whatever happens

So wait...you have cable and DSL? What is Rogers @ Home, cable I assume? Cause by reading what you've wrote so far it sounds like you got 3 different connections...

Rogers @ Home which is a High Speed Cable connection and is always connected, theres no logging in

My other one is a DSL connection which I have to type a log-in into.

When speeds get to high like when I use bit torrent then my internet stops working. The only way to get my DSL working is to restart my computer and I can get the cable connection working by just unplugging the modem and plugging it back in and waiting a minute or so.

It's obviously just a way to control traffic and be a nuissance to be people who abuse their connection even though by all rights if I pay 40 dollars a month I should be able to download how ever the fuck much I want to download but oh well. Is there a way to avoid being cut-off from my internet because it's a bitch especially when I'm away from the computer.
