Havannah - Havannah
Havannah - Havannah, first track of ASOT 128. Such a sweet track, I definately want to fool around a bit with this one, even if it's just fooling around.
I've tried my hand at picking out the notes but I'm pretty unsure they're right, I'd also appreciate if anyone could give me any pointers on how to recreate the lead sound (kinda Envio-ish).
hehe kinda Dreas-ish
lol ... GUITAR??
I made an envio guitar on the pro 53. It takes automation to make it work. I used pretty much all 5 waveforms (saw and pulse for Osc1, saw triangle and pulse for Osc2). Fucked around with the filters and the poly mod until I thought it sounded decent. In the filter you gotta make sure you've got a decently quick decay, quick sustain, and a long release. Also gotta have a good amount of frequency modulation on there controlled by an average speed triangle LFO.
Where the automation comes in: When you're playing the notes, keep the release for the amplifier relatively short, but on the last note, the release should be really long. On this note, also increase the amount of modulation for that after effect he has on the guitar in Time To Say Goodbye.
Ill try and put up an mp3 clip for you. And I haven't heard Havannah yet.
Yeah, I know now that Dras (and Bjrn?) made the tune.
Thx SoM that's an excellent explanation... I'll play around a bit with it.
But I wonder, would a filtered guitar be a better choice for this sound?
well i kinda need this type of sound in a track im writing right now. I followed what SoM said but didnt make it.
Id like a full tutorial on how to make that guitar synth sound on pro53 or vstation.
Thx a lot

well a little hint about that envio-ish sound, that guitar is a preset in reasons factory soundbank if I remember it correctly
(was a while ago that I spoke with him about it but I'm 90% shure he said that)

of course he has modified it a little...regular EQ, verb and stuff but it's one of the presets...wich one I don't know so that you'll have to ask him
?
Eh.... He on TA too?

dunno, ask him

Hey guys...
Well...the "guitar" in Havannah is not an Envio kinda sound...its very different IMO....envio uses samples from Reason......my sound from Havannah....thats actually not a guitar sound...its a Bass sound, which you normally find on old typical synths like Roland etc...which I've put a phat chorus on, which make it sound a bit like a guitar....
Hope that helps somehow
But I would rather see someone making a NEW sound
thats kidna more interesting!

Well since this is a Havannah thread I thought I'd have a go at recreating the sound, although I agree that unique sounds are better
However, recreating a sound has its' merits as well, it's like a reverse-engineering trick for me.
I think it could do with a little more warmth and a little less brightness...and if the notes are off, that's because I used the MIDI on John's site (accessed through the huge "post your MIDIs here" thread).
