Hmm, haven't been shopping for trance lately so I couldn't give you the most up to date news, but Hipnotik in New West, Active Pass and Bassix on Hastings (kinda near Stadium skytrain), Boomtown is also downtown, can't remember which area hehe right now.

I can't think straight right now so I'm going to stop typing. But I know of at least those ones, prolly forgetting some.

1252 Burrard...............I am the buyer for boomtown and I will tell you right now if you go into On deck you will find cheesy old used records that they are selling at 15.99 a pop. Bassic doesn't even have a trance section. I get 50-100 new records each week just for trance. I also buy for techno and progressive. I had a guy named MIke come in from Montreal yesterday and buy over $400.00 of records from that section just because they were so good.... you should come and visit I get new shipments on wed and fri

Shameless self-promotion but I agree, bassix trance isn't exactly top notch.

Sounds like Boomtown is the place to go. Im a bit hesitant to buy from there. I know that my cousin bought a couple records from there the other week and they skip and he is the one that im finding this out for so I can get him a christmas present.
Spinswax if i get him a gift certificate at your store and he buys records there and they skip can he bring them back ?

Posted by spinswax on Dec-23-2003 02:59:

did your cousin listen to them completely to make sure they don't skip?? vinyl is a delicate medium and we encourage people to listen to thier tracks before they buy them and to let us know if there are any skips etc so we can send them back to our distributors. Yes we sell gift certificates. Vinyl is a final sale though. But as long as your cousin double checks (I will even do it for him) everything should be fine

if i ever get TTs, im gonna go harass spinswax @ boomtown

The boomtown here in Victoria is terrible. You need to seriously talk to who ever does their trance and progressive orders. They get in about 90% progressive house and it's not very good IMO. Trance and progressive trance are almost non existent in that store. It's a shame for them since I end up buying all my vinyl online.

I'm going to be selling a bunch of my vinyl in the next few weeks, just need to put the list together. Will post here.

For new trance yes, but nothing beats Otis for oldies.
