Access Indigo or Virus C + Controller keyboard?

Firstly hi everyone, I'm new.

Secondly, should I bother spending 1200 on an Indigo - and if I do, can the Indigo be used as a controller keyboard? Would it be a better option to buy a Virus C and an Evolution MK361C, as the Evo would be able to play the VSTis for definate.

Any help?

no you should buy 2 second hand virus indigo's and give one to me, you mays as well its christmas, and we can both have fun then instead of just you , quite logical really.

No, I'm pretty sure there are plenty of internet sites with stories about strangers twidling eachother's nobs.

Moog Baby, buy second hand if possible and get an indigo or a KC if you can afford one. The keys will be so much sweeter than an Evolution controller and all the nobs on the virus send midi data so you can use it to control softsynths. So much easier when everything is labelled as well. Just midi learn everything so amp attack is amp attack, cutoff = cutoff, etc.

A-37 MIDI KEYBOARD CONTROLLER

Posted by Mossy on Dec-22-2003 20:57:

yeah but how much is that? Future music rate that keyboard I was on about, so thats good enough for me. Besides, yours has no nobs and slidey things!

I got a qtn too.. I from Singapore and i doubt the my country carry these products and therefore, I dun think i can get it second hand.

But if i were to buy, Acess Virus C or Indigo 2?? Which is more preferable? Would like to know more about it. thanks. hehehe...

I planning of which to choose. at the meantime, I'm saving up the money to buy either Indigo 2 or access virus C. Would like to know more on it and which is more user friendly. I read the comparison chart, theres nuthing much diff on it. One is controller, the other had it key note to play on it... that all i know. would like to know better before i really get the products.

Cheers!

Josh the difference between the Virus C and the Indigo 2 is simply that the Indigo 2 has a three octave keyboard on it and is white. The actuall synth and the layout of all the nobs are exactly the same

yeah man. i checked it out already. the price was indeed a big diff. jsut wondering which to get.

But in fact, i can get a midi keyboard to trigger the sound from Virus C itself???

kool... thanks. hows the connection is it going be? beside, in btw virus C and Spectrasonic of Trilogy, Atmosphere and stylus, Which of these two products are worth of it to get? wish to buy two but i reckon i can only buy one of them for the time being. was thinking which will be in great use. was looking up on spectrasonic and heard alot of good stuff. hoping to see some comparison and know it better.

can you use the indigo as a controller keyboard though? Someone mentioned previously you can use the nobs but can you use the actual keys to control other softsynths?

Of course you can.

Josh, I have both a Virus C and Atmosphere. They are both great programs with some smooth sounds. Atmosphere is obviously a lot more limited than the virus although that it not to say that it is a limited program. It is easier to use than the virus because the great sounds are there ready for you while the presets in the virus are not great.

How's the connection going to be? Well you need some midi ports (at least on in and one out). The virus hooks up to these. I can explain in detail if/when you get one. You will need a midi sequencer like Cubase, Sonar, Logic to run it. You will need a midi controller to play it if you end up getting the Virus C over the Indigo 2.

I would suggest getting Atmosphere first. It is cheaper and easier to understand. It has amazing pads and some really nice lead sounds as standard. If you feel you need more control, then have a look at the virus.

look like u have brighten me up! Heh! i should save up to get the atmosphere first! massive thanks. Beside, you are using Cubase SX or SX 2.0 now??? wats the cost gonna be like?

basically, i had all wat i should have as mention by u. just wanna take a look at spectrasonice stuff and Virus. heh. Shall get both once i had the money ready.

Posted by hey cheggy on Dec-24-2003 05:29:

I'm using Cubase SX. Cost, can't remember. Atmosphere was quite expenive, but alot cheaper than the virus.

If your gonna get a virus c get one from ebay i would, i got mine for 850 and its absolutely brand new, boxed and with full warranty. The guy i bought it off, his friend works in distribution so he gets them for trade price. Just a thought as you'll save yourself 25% straight off, enough to get atmosphere i think! Merry Xmas, Tom
