Pot smoking trip idea - collaboration

Hey all,

First here's something that I do regularily. I love before going to bed, smoking a couple of bowls of pot till i'm significantly high and then in the dark, with headphones on listening to say an hour of trance.

I find under these circustances my enjoyement and pleasure at the music is maximized.

Now I don't just listen to any songs I program what I'd define as little "trips" where I try to listen to songs whose effects are fully realized through the effects of my being high.

What I'm wondering is that I assume i'm not the only person who does this. What i'd like to do is exchange "trips" with people, and then see what we thought of each others experiences.

To start things off I offer my current trip which i've been loving from opening beat to close. Songs as follows...

1. Oceanlab - Satelitte (coldharbour mix)
2.Ayumi Hamasaki - Boys & Girls [push instrumental dub]
3. Motorcycle - As the Rush Comes [any version but gabriel]
4. Sasha Wavy Gravy
5. Poe - Centre of the sun
6. Solid Globe - North Pole

Lots of vocals in this set, I find under the influence they always sound so much more involved

regards,

If I smoked a bowl of pot and went to bed with the headphones on, that would be the last thing I remembered. Hard for me to stay awake dead stoned laying in bed in the dark.

Get really high and listen to Steve Lawler's nubreed003 cd1.

I think you should add some from these:

Scott Bond vs. Solarstone - 3rd Earth
Aquanuts - Deep Sea (Martin Eyerer Remix)
Sander Kleinenberg - Sacred
Sander Kleinenberg - Buenos Aires
Sasha - Xpander

These are all tunes that I enjoy after a smoke.

Some of my favorite tracks to listen to when Im blazed would be -
Art of Trance - Madagascar
Solar Stone - Seven Cities
Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar
pretty much any good uplifting/progressive/or goa trance sounds good when you are high as a kite

That's what i'm talking about... for a brief while all the rest of the universe fades from existence and its replaced with only the music. Your engulfed in this wall of sound and its overwhelming and nothing beats just sitting there and letting it wash all over you

Without a doubt , Oceanlab Satelitte is a perfect example of this for me. Sober its just not that interesting to me, high and I think its the most beautiful heart renching song imaginable

I find in general though that all the subtlties in a song are suddenly really vibrant, not too mention that everything is a whole lot more immersive... Its like your just living in the NOW... there's no future to worry about, no past to regret, there's just NOW, and its a cool place to be

Smoking up and Lee Burridge go hand-in-hand.

Whenever I'm high, it's either Steve Lawler or Tyrant/Burridge solo.

one day, i was with my girlfriend...this was down in florida. she took me to this place, it had all kinds of things growing. she gave me something...it was a mushroom...she said "eat it"

listening to melodic, trancey stuff while high is a waste of a buzz imo; it's all about nice, groovey techy house.

...so what do the drugs have to do with it? You people ever learned how to appreciate music for what it is? Or do you really need a drug to soften the edges and essentially become a crutch for music listening?

I spent many summer nights doin what you describe. I remember putting in a mix on infected mushroom and at one point i swore that all i could hear was a bicycle bell ringing. It was fucked.

Infected Mushroom - Dream Theatre
Sasha - Wavy Gravy
Oslo night mixes do very well too!

I second that...it's like the music is intended to be listened to in an altered state of mind.

Have you smoked up and listened to Trance? If you've done that and didn't like the experience, or felt it added nothing to your musical enjoyment then so be it.

The truth of the matter is that smoking up while listening to music changes the experience for the better IMHO.

I'll make an analogy for you which i'll hope you excuse. Suppose you've never tried real coke (the soft drink) and all you've ever drunk is diet coke (no caffeine and no sugar) and one day your buddy gives you a regular coke and your like "WTF! this is the same drink? its so much richer, these added ingredients take what was a relative uninteresting flavour experience and has turned it into something more. Is caffeine a crutch?

Likewise if you add salt and pepper to your meal are they crutches or does the addition of these little spices not bring out more of the true flavours of the meal?

I respect your right to not do drugs.. more power to you but for me, and judging by the feedback this thread has generated there are a lot of people who think being high adds a definite spice to their musical meals.

regards

Versus your viewpoint on music and drugs? If your denying the obvious connection between electronica and narcotics, then you really don't see the picture.
Of course, I choose NOT to associate trance with drugs, even though it's a given staple among many people, but that doesn't mean I won't enjoy trance with or without substances...it's just a way to make things a little more fun and enjoyable.
Maybe you should try it before you go preaching your political and social views on certain activities certain people like to enjoy.
