what the mainstream think about "techno"

http://www.urbandictionary.com/defi...term=techno&f=1

my favorite one is
quote:
techno 13 votes

A gayass form of noise that sucks ass because most of it has no lyrics and it uses annoying synthesizers that make your ears bleed. You want to liten to REAL music, go watch MTV or VH1 instead.

Only cocksucking ******s listen to techno. I hope they all die from ecstasy poisoning or whatever they get high on when they are at the clubs listening to this vile abomination called techno.

truely brainwashed

Posted by fuct4less on Dec-28-2003 07:15:

Posted by nickpdx on Dec-28-2003 07:17:

their real music = hip-hop-rap-pop-britney spears-50cent shit

Posted by hardstyle on Dec-28-2003 07:59:

hahaha

i like this

Music that was actually invented by black people in the late 1960s/early 1970s, and began to be widely used by the late 1970s. Nowadays, thanks to the increasing simplicity of technology, even the least talented person in the world can throw a bunch of shitty sound samples together and call it techno.

People really need to learn that there is a fine line between dance music and techno music. The "techno" that's played on the radio and MTV is simply noise.

Yeah i wanna see Chris Liebing or Dj Rush on mtv or radio

They have no fucking clue what is techno

Techno is the form of dance music

Posted by hardstyle on Dec-28-2003 08:02:

or this

"Due to it's building-block nature, true techno is closer to hip-hop than many of the genres (such as trance and breakbeat) which it is erroneously associated with."

True techno is closer to hip hop?? Bahahahahahahahahaha, sure Christian Valera or Adam Beyer really sounds like hip hop

Posted by hardstyle on Dec-28-2003 08:07:

"A genre of Music that only little prick ass azn nerds listen to. People who listen to techno only do so so they can act like they listen to something cool when a badass starts blasting tupac outta his street machine and passes him by 20 cars. Techno is usually listened to by fat nerds who play DDR and wish they were japanese. Fucking dipshits. see word Wapanese.

I was saying that Afrika Bambaataa beats was the inspiration of Detroit Techno...

so in other words, Afrika Bambaataa was the source of modern hiphop/rap and surprise surprise Techno as we know it today.

Please visit the link below to read The History of Electronic Dance Music. That might help to clear a few things up....

Posted by Psionic on Dec-28-2003 12:06:

Utter shit

The worst forms of techno are trance, speedcore, acid, and rave. And I say that because they are the complete opposite of what music is supposed to be.

form of music created by banging head on wall while tripping on acid and jumping up and down on bagfulls of mice while wierd lights flash.

that techno stuff is inhumane and should be outlawed!!

Posted by Moongoose on Dec-28-2003 16:09:

Oh no no no no

quote:
techno 20 votes

The best music in the entire world, a form of electronic music genre, the beats per minute can be sped up to mad levels.

I like scooter, they have a mixture of hardocre techno, techno, happy-hardcore and acid techno. It's tight.

I like this one though

quote:
techno 11 votes

A popular music genre that doesn't glorify crime - violence - misogynism (can anyone tell me what that means?)- or drug use (like rap does)

This thread should be in the Music Discussion forum

Posted by IbizaCrasher on Dec-28-2003 23:04:

for those who don't like techno, it's because you can't understand the simplicity of it's hardcoreness. So, in other words, unless you have an accquired taste for things that are thrown together to make something ultimately trippy, chances are, you don't like it.

YES! that happens to me a lot.

yesterday a friend gave me her mp3 player, to listen to a 'new' techno track. well i put on the headphones and listened, then i told her that it wasnt techno, it was GABBER! and she said, "so! it doesnt matter, it all sounds the same when im stoned or drunk"

cheesh, people dont even want to learn

Posted by SuperFarStucker on Dec-29-2003 00:50:

I took the time to post some correctional measures, and and though it might be a bit condescending I think it's fairly informative, as well as a bit innacurate.

quote:
The general public's misconception is deeply rooted. Actually the "trunk" genre is electronica not "techno". Techno is an unrelenting, relatively high BPM (120+) electronica genre characterized by harsh or exotic noise and extensive use of percussive instrumentation and rythymic progression.
Its' birth, while largely irrelevant, was in Detroit, MI USA approximately ~20 years ago.
It is *not* "rap background music" which atypically relies on a simple melody and a very slow BPM (80ish bpm). Techno is largely devoid of melodic solos although some of it's bastard children do contain them in said form (namely tech-trance).

I think the general public's misconception is due to their lack of understanding of the diversity and complexity of EDM (electronic dance music, or electronica). Atypically a vocal-less genre (sans some of the "lesser" genre's and their bastard children) it tends to be rather alienating to somebody who has grown up listening to music with "words" in it. Understanding that sound is an expression in itself is essential to understanding the avant-garde electronica movement of the past 25-30 years. Classically trained musicians have a *much* easier time understanding this than your average "50 cent" or "Christina Aguilara" fan.

I hope my primer has been most helpful to the nameless masses out there. Remember, if you don't know what something is but you recognize it as containing electronic-sounds call it "Electronica", as, while vague, it is always correct. Opposed to the word techno, which only makes you look stupid to anyone within a 30 foot radius who actually knows what techno is.
