You have a midi cable connected from your Virus' output to your soundcard's midi input?

If so, do you see the midi-in led on Cubase's transportbar lighting?

Go into the System/Multi edit menu.
Scroll to Midi Control: Lo Page. Set to "Contr"
Scroll to Midi Control: Hi Page. Set to "Sysex"

Obviously, you need to have the midi out of the virus connected to a midi in on your computer somewhere. Now open up an empty midi channel in cubase. Set the input of that midi channel to whatever the virus midi out is connected to. Now record enable that channel so that you can record midi data onto it. Press record so that the midi file plays the virus and allows you to record into the empty midi channel you have created. Start turning the cutoff and it should record onto the midi channel. It will look different to normal automation, more like a bar graph than a line. You need to create a midi channel for each controll you want to automate, so label that channel "filt 1 cutoff" or whatever and create a new one if you want to automate filter decay or whatever.

Hope this helps. I use SX myself and that it how you do it on SX. You just need to make sure you have LoPage to Control and HiPage to System Exclusive to automate.
