Ishkur's guide of EDM and what they say about trance

http://www.di.fm/edmguide/edmguide.html

This had to be made by some diehard minimal fans, listening to which means 1337ness according to this guide. Trance is bashed all over. Imagine that Rank 1 - Airwave and System F - Exhale were put into category Trance/Not Trance (aka Crap). What a piece of bullshit.

You do know why Ishkur made this guide in the first place, don't you?

So he could watch people like you take it seriously and start threads about it, and then sit and laugh his ass off.

not good

Ishkur needs to get a life

Posted by torontotrance on Jan-01-2004 17:45:

I thought we discussed this in many threads that ishkur was a clueless assclown and he did it for kicks. Then again, some of ta's on here thought about making our OWN one

Posted by Nadi on Jan-01-2004 17:48:

Come on guys, everything you read on the net is true.

Posted by USMC_Greg on Jan-01-2004 17:49:

Go to that site (which has been talked about on this site for years now) and read the disclaimer.

Posted by torontotrance on Jan-01-2004 17:53:

I read it greg but what bothered me was that clueless noobies would read the site and forget the disclaimer. I want noobies to get the correct info....ishkur did a great job...making fun of genres...i wish he pissed on a few more...then again...i've done this electronic stuff for yrs now....and i know...i'm just more concerned with the noobies...hence why ta will make one.....one day.

"Trainwreck
A bold, inventive and impressive technique of beatmatching, that only the most highly-skilled of DJs can pull off, to give the music that much-revered "gym shoes in a laundry dryer" sound."

That says something about the seriousness of this site.

Sadly lots of people from outside TA don't know this and take that crap seriously and refer to it elsewhere. I was given this link by my mate who told me to check it out... Somehow I didn't know that stupid site before. I was a bit dissapointed with what I saw.

Posted by torontotrance on Jan-01-2004 19:11:

I mean for the knowledge based experts....like ME!!....it's a right laugh because some songs are not even where they should be...it's a great laugh but the first one that he did....noobies refered to it over and over and over....which was tough...cuz then they came to me to ask questions and it took longer. Then again if noobies don't read the disclaimer..then they got massive problems.

Actually, Ishkur said this forum is the only one he knows of that takes the guide like a personal insult. Besides, airwave is ez-cheez...

Posted by torontotrance on Jan-01-2004 19:38:

cuz we know more about music than most.

maybe cause trance music is the more bashed style on there?

Posted by Perfect_Cheezit on Jan-01-2004 19:49:

or we just define it to the extremes to which he clearly is making a parody of on that site

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jan-01-2004 19:58:

Oh come on. Just because Ishkur doesn't like the same music as you is no reason to hate him. In the "not trance" section you hate so much, he's just expressing his well founded annoyance with three minute breakdowns so beloved of Scot Project and co.

Turn your humour detectors on people.

Posted by whiskers on Jan-01-2004 20:08:

fine, a joke, i've expressed enough of my opinions on this, but here's one more - if it misleads people and there's no alternative, it's stupid.

we must make a TA guide, seriously.

when can we actually follow through with it?

No, it's not.
Two words: Speed Garage.

And he does have a point, by the way, 3-minute long breakdowns are annoying. Stop being so touchy!

By the way, I'm against a TA guide unless it's made carefully and without traces of elitism (and from what I read in these forums, I think this is something quite hard to achieve).

The 'guide' annoys me because other people are refering to it as to a serious source of knowledge of EDM (which it obviously isn't), not because Ishkur has other taste in mysic than me. TBH, I don't give a shit about what music he likes - it's his choice, I have nothing to it.

Look what he wrote about epic trance...fucking prick
He must be enjoying .50 Cents new record right now

We really do need a TA guide

You see that can never be done definitively. I am sure there will always be some "expert" saying you are wrong. Look at the posts made here with the headings "what genre is this". You have about 10-20 people saying something different, or the same but a little different. "this is Trance"... "no this is Trance with Tech influences and a hint of prog". Blah Blah Blah. A lot of the times these genres come down to personal opinions, and as we all know the world has an endless supply of those .

Posted by torontotrance on Jan-01-2004 22:54:

But if we can make a more accurate guide for noobies....holding out the songs that sit on the genre lines....it could help ppl trying to know more. The best way is listen to music..takes yrs to understand...but I'm all for helping others. True, some comes down to opinion but we tend to have a great deal of knowledge on this board and maybe we should put it to use.
