Iran hardline clerics need the perpetuation of the "Great Satan"
A theme I saw today that demonstrates why peace is so hard to attain in our world today. Examine these two articles from Al Jazeera and ABC News, http://abcnews.go.com/wire/World/ap20040102_728.html and http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exe...9D16A5989A4.htm
I am amazed by these clerics, they seem to be not the least bit interested in improving relations on their end as well, of course why would they after all without the "Great Satan" and the Death to America chants how could they possibly maintain the charade of their control that so many young Iranians have and are growing frustrated with. It just pissed me off with the sheer calous that this conservative cleric makes it seem that because the U.S. gave aid to Iran that it was because of an interest in meddling in their internal affairs, seems to me like he is more concerned about politics himself and what the bettering of Iran - U.S. relations would mean for him as a big whig in the Islamic Republic of Iran. I am interested in knowing from anyone who is from Iran or has a strong knowledge of Iran and its politics as to the overall viewpoints of these conservative, hardline clerics among the Iranian populous. Mr Jannati must rue the day that the "Great Satan" and Iran can foster better relations. I am fully aware that the U.S is no innocent party in this entire sordid relationship between the two nations, but with that said what good does hostility between the two countries serve and who does it serve as opposed to the pursuit of improved relations.
Would be an excellent thesis to examine conservatives in the U.S. and Iran on their views and relationship between these two nations. I get the feeling both have the same negative opinions of each other.
