Summafielddayze Review
Hello all !
Well as alot of my fellow syd.ta's already know, I was privelged enough to head down to Summafielddayze on the Gold Coast and boy was it a party. Arrived extremely early (12.15pm) to check out the setup etc, before Kid Kenobi played one of the most awesome breaks set I have ever heard. The Mc (unlike the MC at Sydney TT) absolutely rocked it up. Towards the end of his, Kid dropped some sort of breaks mix of Ferry corsten - Rock your body rock, which sent the joint absolutely nuts.
It was close to 3.30pm and I met up with fellow ta's jace from syd and FB (Justin. By this time I was struggling to see two metres in front of me, however still managed to make it down to the main arena for Tim Deluxe. WOW, is the only word I can possibly use to describe this man's set. Forget those cheesy radio productions I automatically think about when I hear the name Tim Deluxe, this was progressive funky house (absolute best I can describe it) at its best. Mixing was second to none and set structure transcended the most incredible reaction from the crowd. There were tracks which jace and I found difficult to id, and I probably appreciated the set alot more because of that. Highlight definitely though had to be this progressive mix of Tim Deluxe - Without You. I'm not joking when I say it had the entire crowd singing at the top of their lungs. He ended with the original mix of Nirvana - Smells like teen spirit, which also went down really well. 7pm and Roger Sanchez braced the decks, wasn't too bad I thought but still a bit on the chessy side. Left the main arena and checked out Krafty Kutz. Boy are they soooo overated ! old skool cheesy breaks, left immediatly.
Then the moment a had been waiting for since 12pm, TIESTO. Was a great set indeed and Tiesto was really into the crowd. I still would regard James Holden as best of the year (sorry Lisa) but it was definitely up there. Some of the tracks that he dropped (I'm sure more will come back to me, as I slowly but surely recover)
In absolutely no order !lol
Portishead - Roads (Sultan and the tonedepth mix)
Andain - Beautiful things (G&D mix)
Three drives - Signs of the universe
Fictivision - Escape (Phynn mix)
Verocacha - Carte blanche (Ralphie B mix?)
Tiesto - Traffic (absolutely MASSIVE)
Tiesto - Flight 643
Way out west - Mindcircus (G&D mix)
Conjure one - Tears from the moon (Tiesto mix)
Tiesto - Lethal industry
Marco V - C:\del.mp3
Ron van den beuken - Timeless (Ron van den beuken mix)
Marco V vs jens - Relooped
Dave gahan - Dirty sticky floors (Junkie XL dub) HIGHLIGHT
Benny benassi - Love is gunna save us
Delerium - Silence (Tiesto mix)
Lng - Innercity (Lange mix)
all in all was truly an awesome set and up there with James holden !lol I was really dissappointed though that he didn't drop Street spirit (Tiesto mix) and Nyana, which would have truly blown my mind and pip Holden for the top spot.
Thumbs up to the venue though, was deifinitely the best party I have ended all year (if not ever). Sound was amazing, lighting and setup to die for and a crowd that enjoyed absolutely every second of it. I must say however the only downer was the mission you had to go through to grab water ! There were only three points where you could get it, and the lines were back to Sydney !lol Big thanks to Adam Jace (always love partying with you champion, your a true friend and no Tiesto's face isn't green !lol) Justin, can't wait to catch you back in Sydney for PvD. Anyways I shall catch you all back in syd for Armin as 04 is only just warming up
P.S Justin hopefully you can post some nice off chops pics !lol
P.S.S Joely I'm outside near the dogem cars !lol
P.S.S.S Cam I hope you enjoyed the review !lol

Have to agree with you and say that Tim Deluxe and Tiesto were the highlight of the event. The atmosphere in the tent when Tim Deluxe was playing was second to none.
Highlight of the night was Tim Deluxe dropping Without You followed by Chable and Bonnici - Ride and then into that Smells like teen spirit remix. The place went absolutely nuts.
Whoever it was that said they didn't want to go because the atmosphere wouldn't be good...you missed out on what will probably be one of the best events of 2004.
yer was an awesome set from Tiesto indeed
every1 was having a ball. i cldnt believe the crowd started to thin out a bit at 10pm when groove armada were set to start in the other tent :P oh well made for more room to groove
andain - beautiful things and "diaba - hold you (agoria 'bear' mix)" were gold!
spewing a missed yaz FZRR and eff_bee
people didnt think this event would be atmospheric?? LOL
how long was Tiesto spinning for?
Sounds really good.
I wish that i went now.

Kid Kenobi and MC Sureshock were Insane!!!!!!!!!
Tiesto spun a great mix of tech-trance, prog and classic anthems
Sanchez played a remix of 'Clocks' which went down sweet.
Line up for water and toilets was pathetic and the bar ran out of smirnoff black! nooooooooooooo!!!
Still well worth the $60 though
argh goddamit, why did tiesto play flight 643 every but melbourne

OMG what a day it was.
Tiesto absolutely owned me for every second of his set and im still getting flashbacks of the night every 5 minutes.
I had a stack of A4 Sheets to write requests and messages to Tiesto on. The decks were Tiestoproof and he fuckn blew the roof off. I kept requesting 643 and He played 643 which was prolly the highlight of the set for me as i was flying around in the front row just metres away from #1.
I was wearing a "In Tiesto We Trust" shirt btw for anyone that did'nt recognise me.
Fuck i still can't get over the MAGIK of that night, well i guess Armin's 6hr set @ Family is the next thing to look forward to now.

Hehehe yeah man that was me!
err... maybe this review is a bit late, but i dont care, i gotta put my oppinion in
i was there at the summafielddayze, absolutely wild day/evening/night
, we got there around 3pm, listened to JEN E and started dancing, it was pretty banging, and basicly stayed in the same tent the whole time... for 9 hours.
my highlights were... Tim Deluxe, imo his set was AMAZING, i thought his set was about the same as tiesto's imo, *awaits to be flamed* but hey im still a n00b set listener and still learning watz good and watz not. Sanchez was okish, but then Tiesto came on and i was excited, heard andain: beautiful things (G&D remix) and i went off, during that song, i got piggy backed by my mate and my face was on one of those weird ass projected screens for awhile and i was singing off to the lyrics
<--- definately the ultimate highlight, i tried to groove throughout tiesto's set but couldn't cut it, 4 hours before and i was already tiring down, but i pushed myself to move a bit :P, i guess that half a bottle of pure guarana didn't cut it, oh well... full bottle next time (even though it says 10 drops should cut it :P.. gah it tastes bad!)
and i saw a couple people i think. i only got to the front near the very end and saw 2 dudes holding sheets, one saying something like 'tiesto is god of trance' and i saw another with a love heart as well lol... i figure one of em must of been u guyz.
amazing time!!!!
I agree with you nomiz.. delux was just as good as tiesto
he really played a well structured set with tight mixing and he had an awsome vibe going
sanchez was pretty good too although I felt he lost the crowd a few times when he played some extremely boring tribal house tunes that went absolutely no where
sid had a wicked time partying with you, always a pleasure
till next time

i agree with the sanchez losing crowd - he looked like a fookin loser up their wearing french hat and that.. maybe he had sponsorship deal with adidas as to the clothes.. nermind..
as for tim deluxe, we he was really different to what i expected - alot of tek-house style mixed in there.. but shook my head at the 'smells like teen spirit' finale
[btw, euphoria@aus -> was i speaking to you [during daylight sometime i think] about doing multimedia/I.T. or something ??? im not sure why, but thats in my messed mind somewhere.. haha ?]
