Another romance-related question here (maybe there should be a relationship forum?)
Does anyone on here happen to know the likelihood of me finding a girl-friend (aged 16-20 years) who's really into Electronica (all-encompassing but, mainly Trance); very technically-inclined; fluent or at least intermediate in English; well educated (I don't care if it was in college, a degree doesn't tell much (this is no lie either). It's actual knowledge that really counts); and interested in world cultures, differences, etc. that lives in Japan (preferrably the Tokyo area)? I say all of this because:
A. Even though I like some other genres of music to a small degree, there's nothing like Electronica and the sweet sounds of those sythesisers & sequencers.
B. My life practically has to do with computers. I'm on it all the time when I'm home and I'm very anal about having files & folders sort correctly and neatly into a catalogue-like way without any catalogueing software (it's possible to do this easily too: D:\Audio\Music\Albums\ARTIST\TITLE\CD ##\(files)).
C. I know no other languages besides English and even though I plan to learn Japanese, I'd never be able to speak it the way I speak English. Two people can never fully understand each other (mainly on a higher level) if they both don't know the language they're speaking very well. Plus, I have trouble breaking certain terms down for people who don't have much of an idea at all of what's being spoken about.
D. I don't plan to live in any one place for long. I'd like to be always travelling because I enjoy the different (and unique) ways of living & culture backgrounds in different areas. This can't be said about everyone, though. Some people want to settle in one place or stay where they are right now. These type of people won't be best for me as conflicts can occur.
E. I plan to be producing Electronica in the future so, Electronic music & computers will be a very important aspect of my life. It makes sense that a potential romantic partner for me would appreciate this type of thing.
Please get back to me on this issue...
Sure, there are tons of them out there - you might have to give them a frontal lobotomy first, though.
(sheesh, might as well ask how easy it is to find one that loves trance, computers, video games, movies, laundry, cleaning, making sandwiches, running errands, and sucking dick)
I hope this is all a joke.
...not bloody likely my friend. Sorry.
No, it isn't a joke... :-(

Why do you need to find someone who fits such requirements? Not everyone settles down with someone exactly like themselves. She could be the complete opposite of what you think you want and you'll be happy together forever.
The question you ultimately ask is simple though, there is someone out there like that. But will you ever meet her? That's up to you, so I don't see the point of your post.
How would anyone know if there is someone like this in Tokyo?

id say the likelihood depends on what you think the likelihood is. If you dont think its ever gonna happen, guess what!

Heh. Take a number and stand in line bro.
Unfortunately, I've come to understand that being a unique person is a double edged sword. My passion for electronica already alienates me from about 95% of the teenaged social population. When I tell a girl my favorite artists are Underworld, D-Fuse and Donald Glaude, they give me this blank stare as if they'd just been labotomized. The only "music" they know is the RIAA schlock they hear on the radio. Or when I tell them about the books I enjoy, my favorite movies, my love of video games... even trivial shit like the healthy food I eat makes me "un cool," for fucks sake. Sorry, I dont like stuffing my face with junk food, watching American Idol, gossiping at school about whos going out with who, going to high school football games, or listening to Fiddy cent and whoever rapping about how uneducated and stupid they sound. I don't enjoy driving around the mall for 3 hours blasting rap music every saturday night like a horny gorilla puffing his chest. I don't enjoy fucking random girls that I've known for 3 hours and going through relationships faster than I change my underwear, while still fooling around on the side the entire time. I'd rather be out at a good (electronica) party, or barring that, inside playing some Halo all night and chilling with some tunes. I guess im not cool enough and eligible for most girls out there, but thats ok, I most of them dreadfully unattractive anyways.
You wouldn't beleive how much shit I take for insignificant things.
"What the fuck are you listening to?"
"Eew what the fuck are you eating, collard greens and V8?"
"That movie/book [which you enjoy] sucks ass. How can you like that shit?"
None of it really bothers me though. I enjoy who I am and I enjoy what I do. It can be very frustrating when trying to find a girl, but I accept it as a fair trade off for being a unique individual. They're are plenty of fish in the sea though, dont worry. The real trouble is finding them, particularly the ones that aren't taken
, like a particular girl I know who is the girlfriend of my good friend... shes beautiful, plays counter strike, C&C, well pretty much any game the we are playing (quite well, I should add), seems to have a very secure head on her shoulders, etc. Whenever we get together to lan she comes too, but as one of the guys. Its cool as hell, and I envy the dude.
I suppose the key is to be patient. I see a lot of guys with more girlfriends in a month than they can count on their fingers and toes, yet every time they preach as if they've found the greatest girl ever, yet next week they won't even remember them, as if they're last weeks garbage. Thats not really love.

Oh, just in case anyone wonders "why Tokyo, Japan?", it's because I plan to go there next year or so. I asked questiosn regarding passports, visas, etc. in another thread in this forum... I ask things for a reason...
well... the thing about expectations...
sure, you might have some... but when you fall in love, provided you believe in love and that you realize you're in love, you won't really give a flying rat's ass about any of those expectations.
so my view of it is - yes, finding a girl that fits your expectations is REALLY nice, but if you're too anal about it and can't look past the differences... well, good luck to you, mate, i don't want to have things in common with you then.
my 0.0000003
i'll add more later
Just have some Kirin Ichiban and dont worry about it. Youll loosen up and you wont give a shit WHAT they are into as long as they keep their hand on your thigh lol.
Well at least thats my experience.

First of all, even if two people speak the same language fluently, they may not understand each other. On the other hand, you can live in harmony with someone a foreigner that doesn't necessarily speak your language fluently. I'm talking this from experience. It's nice to know that you like to learn things, but you can't make plans that far in the future because we don't know what tomorrow will be like. Thumbs up for willing to produce but your significant other doesn't need to share the same hobby/work/whatever. The same way you like music, she may like pottery or Dance Dance Revolution. You don't need to spend 24/7 with each other, we all need some time for ourselves. From what I read, you want someone who's a perfectly like you, a copycat. That would be boring as well. You wouldn't learn new things, you wouldn't evolve (you'd never challenge your own beliefs because you two would think alike), and you failed to notice that you would miss what relationships are about : learning more about others so we can know more about ourselves. It's very easy to live with someone who shares the same ideas you have, but you'll never learn to stand for what you believe in (or even worse, you wouldn't know when you're wrong and you wouldn't learn to respect different opinions). Think about it. On second thought, don't think too much, just go out there and do things, instead of just planning |
