NOta ->AUta :: Questions about stuff :)

Hi

I'm going to either Sydney or Gold Coast in February (weehee!!!).

Just wondering two things:

What's the best cable/sdsl provider?
and
Where can I get cheap-ass hardware, like a webshop?

I'm trying to decide whether I should drag a couple of computers across the globe, or buy one down-under

(does the goldcoast clubbing scene suck? I've seen tiesto scheduled, but that's about it)

Surfers Paradise or something. No idea really.

Computer bits are actually frighteningly cheap in .au currently, and I'm comparing that against .jp and .us prices.

Search .au Computer Shops

Goldcoast clubbing scene is .... not that good. Well, it's good if you're coming from Toowoomba or Brisbane, but if you're coming from Sydney or Europe ....

Then again, it's not that expensive to fly between: hit Virgin Blue or QANTAS for info.

There's always trains and busses too.

Personally, from living in both places: come to sydney ... nicer beaches within an hour or so's drive (if you don't like Manly or Bondi), and a much much better day and night life!

Recommendations:

Cable - Telstra Bigpond Advance (Unlimited/128 $69.95)
ADSL - Swiftel, iinet or netspace

The best way to think of the Gold Coast is that it's Australia's version of South Beach in Miami

Norway eh?

You are in for a suprise when you get here bandwidth wise. You will get fucked in the ass in speeds, caps, and price compared to norway. Really hard.

However if you are living on campus you might be able to use the uni link? which is no where near as good as your uni links.

Having recently travelled Asia, AU isn't that much more expensive in price then Asia for computer parts. Hong Kong and Malaysia had about a 5% saving vs AU for most things. SO if you've got a stop over for a day or so, that's where you'll want to stop (Or Japan). But I'd just buy a PC locally or from Asia VS dragging one over, the shipping would be a killer.

Sydney > Brisbane (Sorry Eff_Bee) in regards to lifestyle.
