Evanescence - My Immortal (Michael Feihstel Remix)

Here's the first version of my remix of this sad song.
...of course it's an relaxing track again...what else could the remix of such an original sound like?

Your comments would be more than nice...

some neat ideas

but its hard to picture this song fast, and i think the fx on the piano there are a bit to warped

the vocals are totally in audible

i think the song is an awesome idea but soem levels need to be sorted out...there seems to be too much delay on the vocals

could use some more play with the percussion

overall good idea

lovely stuff..
really love the filtered piano!

i do agree the volume levels need to be sorted out, though..
the kick and the bassline are perhaps a little too quiet, the vocals as well.
i agree with alucard about the delay too.

also i think there should be more of a climax when the refrain kicks in. here voice becomes stronger while your remix continues along the same lines..

very cool remix, but i think if you work on it a bit more it can become a fantastic remix!

thanx for the link btw, Domz..

so, downloading!
i love your linkin park remix and i really need to hear this one, because i like the original as well!
i always wished, some remix this! thanks!

Well, again a great interpretation of a pop/rock track. Again you did a great job

Maybe you should work on the track based on the comments given above, but I'm no producer so I don't know much about the technical stuff

Posted by michif72 on Jan-09-2004 17:41:

Thanks for yur comments. I consider the things you complained about but it isn't as easy as with other tracks. At first i want to say that like the filtered piano and i don't see any reason why removing this...Sorry (for the user that didn't like it).
Now the volume problems...Yes the vocals are a little bit quite...but the problems is that the original (which i used for this remix) comes with a very strong piano which i don't want to put into the foreground...therefore i had to reduce the vol and take some work on the eq.
I agree with you...the delay will be reduced...but it think only the chorus (when her voice becomes stronger) sounds "over-delayed"

And the biggest problem is that I'm often too lazy to update my tracks...if it doesn't work i make something new. But we'll see I think the track is worth updating it...

sounds great so far... but the piano is bit off the beat few times:
- at about 2:30 minutes
- at about 7 minutes
- at about 8 minutes

you really should fix that

as the others said, the vocals could be a bit louder...

the filtered piano sounds a bit strange, i think it is a bit "overfiltered", perhaps you should tune the filter a bit down, if you know what i mean

a few more fx, and it would be a real great remix

one question: what software do you use?

Posted by jcosgrove on Jan-09-2004 20:32:

i really really like this but the levels need fixing properly..

Posted by TeKnoHe@d2025 on Jan-09-2004 20:43:

Great remix, very interesting and unique sounding. I'm a huge Evanescence fan. I also agree that the piano is off at times and could use some fixing plus has some volume issues.

I was delighted to hear this remix. Finally something other then trite epic trance tracks here. Original sounding!

I also noticed the loop was off beat at times like DJ NGE pointed out.

The vocals are muddy, it could use more compression, and the levels need to be fixed.

Posted by michif72 on Jan-10-2004 00:29:

OK OK OK, the volumes and everything else that's been said will be fixed...But remember, it was the FIRST version of this remix. Thanks for your support.

And yes, i agree with FuzzyGreen the style in this forumis sometimes a little bit one-sided (though there's a lot of quality) but why do people reduce themselves to trance? There's so much more...Discover it!

But don't let's go offtopic

Ohhh.. good job bro.

But someone has to make a trance remix for this song...!
I really wanna get a trance remix for this song and I'll never listen to the 'sad' version (the original) again!

Posted by Somershine on Jan-12-2004 10:49:

Nice!

Hi!

I like your remix, but just like the others already said the song needs some adjusments. I agree that there should be less effects on the voice. Good luck with finishing this song!
