Danny Howells

So i go to Danny Howells in the Stalker here in Haarlem, and even got a girl who is not so into this genre to come with me, because she is curious....well i know here for a long time, she will be fine with about everything, as long as i like it.

But why i started this threath is because i want to hear from u guys what u think of mister howells if he plays live! I listened to his 24/7 cds and they rock, so i ordered them yesterday, but as i only got one liveset of him, at the Arc, i want to hear from u guys what u think....

Just to get an sort of impression/'warmup' for 30 jan...

thanx!

howells can be all over when its comes to style.. sometime he can play hard techy tunes, other times he can play funky house tracks, all depending on the crowd. Havent seen him live, but have heard his livesets and they rock, and ppl who have seen him say he rock!

Wish I could go..

he is pure genius. never heard a bad set from him in the 10 times that i've seen him.

mmmmm "deepsexyfuturistictechfunkhouse"

Great DJ!!! Knows how to work a crowd and really brings great energy to everyone of his parties.

seen him less than a month ago.was not bad.played tech-house...

He's a nut and quite a talented DJ...I only saw him for about 45 minutes at the local Virgin Megastore but even there he was quite immense. I really dig his 24:7 compilation, but to get a true sense of the broad range of styles he plays download Danny Howells - Live on Proton Radio 9/12/2003. I wish I got the chance to see him again :!

Most entertaining DJ I've ever seen, very animated behind the decks and loves hyping the crowd. Plays all across the map from funk house to techno but does it seamlessly. I'd go see him any chance I get, as he is my favorite DJ.

Can say enough good things about howells.........

Posted by infinity HiGH on Jan-07-2004 03:31:

I started a thread about him like a month ago and nobody responded

He's a fuckin awesome DJ. I just saw him with Anthony Pappa for the first time on December 6th. Wicked party. Can't wait till he comes back and I'm not so beat cause Pappa was before him and really drained me.

His Proton Radio set is good but Live@Club Redlight is much much much better.

Also checkout his Nocturnal Frequencies CD's, as well as his GU Nubreed.

Posted by nadezhda on Jan-07-2004 03:37:

oh, and might i add that he is the best-dressed (and nicest) dj EVAR?

i *heart* him.

Posted by Dmatrox on Jan-07-2004 03:52:

i have his nocturnal frequencies CD's and they are alright. I think his nubreeds are better. And i havent heard his 24:7. Im not overly excited about his style, everyone to their own

Posted by sndh on Jan-07-2004 09:23:

i will try to get the things u guys mentioned! Many thanx for the response. Will let u know how it was at the end of this month...i honestly can't wait any longer

The best DJ in the world at the moment, imho.

He plays a bit of everything from house, to prog to tech - but it's all groovy. Knows how to work a crowd, and usually has unique tracklists full of tracks most DJs don't touch. I can only hope he comes out here again soon.

You lucky, lucky bastard.

Ditto everyone else, he plays a bit of everything and is very fun/energetic...no "boring" proggy stuff here either. Cool as shit guy as well. Can't wait to see him at WMC (I hope!)

i liked danny before...but kinda failed to keep up with his musical doings in the past couple of years...
saw him 2 nights ago at emerald city in philly and OMFG!
it was awesome...he definitely ranks #1 with me...

it was amazing...hard, funky and he even got electro-ey...
the crowd was into it and once again, i danced my fucking face off...

that was one of the greatest sets i've ever heard

Posted by JRinger on Mar-28-2004 16:15:

Howells is one of the best DJs in the world at the moment IMO.
His style is so eclectic and diverse....his sets incoporate everything from house, prog, electro, tech-house to techno....add to that the fact that he's such an entertaining and nice guy and how can you go wrong. I try to never miss an opportunity to see him play, especially if its an extended set.

During his set at B.E.D. at the WMC, I saw countless numbers of the world's top DJs rocking out to his set - how's that for a recommendation?

Talking

Danny Howells is definitely a dj's DJ...I've been fortunate to see him many times here in NY at his residency at ARC, and not only is he talented, but very approachable...

Dunno

I went to MOS in Taipei last Friday night. Danny Howells was playing tech-house music and people were like crazy there. But I am curious about his headset. He didn't wear the "normal" headsets like every other djs. He held a microphone-like one-ear headphone in his left hand. At first, I thought he was going to say something before the set, but he held that microphone all the time even 2 or 3 songs after. Then I realized that is his headset. That's a weird headset. Anyone knows about it?

lollipop headphones

That is a quick reply. Thank you for the information.
I think my dj friends would be insterested in these lollipops.

lmfao that's exactly what I was thinking the first time I saw him using it.

Anyone know the advantages of it, why he uses it, etc?

Anyways, I love his 24:7 album. So sexy, yet soothing. I've danced to it, and I've fell asleep to it.

Quality.

They basically take a pair of Pioneer cans, take the R or L cup and connect it to a padded stick that is custom shaped to your liking. Some places put an LED into the cup as well.
I really don't see any advantage, guess its just preference.
