I was expecting his set to be more on progressive house/techouse tracks, instead he played more on the deep progressive trance/progressive trance side which is the type of music I really enjoy. Some of the mixes you might want to listen to: Global Underground 014 - John Digweed Live in Hong Kong Diggers also has a weekly radio show, every Friday on Kiss100.com Cheers... |
I saw him with sasha at delta heavy and saw him in nov 2002 by himself. The 4 hr set that he did was amazing because he played no ZZZZ prog that ppl like to class him in. He played just about every single style going and some styles that have no names.
I saw him last year in Dance valley with Sasha. An it was OK. lots of prog. with trancy breaks and also some tribal beats.
Saw him at Ultra last year, and it was positively a snoozer of a deep prog set.
Hey, I like GU Los Angeles and Bedrock. But that set went nowhere.
I used to see him the last friday of every month with sasha at twilo. i knew so little about the music back then. all i knew is that it really moved me.
Living in NY and experiencing Digweeds and Sasha's residency at Twilo I've had the pleasure of hearing Digweed well over 50 times. No live set quite gets me like the one that was recorded at Twilo the night the club was emptied out because of a small fire on the second floor. That was one night I'll never forget.
You may be able to find it on Soulseek.

was that the night where the entire club was out on the street and the guy pulling out of the parking garage was blasting some progressive set and everyone was dancing and having a great time dancing in the street?

digweed...
is f*ckin awesome. after you get through the monotonous intro tracks of his sets, which aren't too bad... its just that i need to hear at least a slight melody to stay interested...
anyway, yea i heard diggers for the first time the other night also, and he totally blew me away. flawless, and i mean PERFECT transitions and the core of his set was amazing. the man knows what he's doing. he used a shit load of cd-r's which was great, i was happy to hear brand new unheard stuff for once.
and he dropped Trafik - Your Light (Luke Chable Dub)
i couldn't have been any happier.
nice guy too, autographed all our stuff
i can't imagine what a 10 hour set from him would be like... but im pretty sure i'd fastforward to about hour 3 or so lol...

i seen him at the start of the year and he didn't half bore the hell out of me, it's just not my cup of tea unfortunately.

Digweed is absolutly amazing on the decks. No one, and I mean no one can mix the way he does. I have seen him 3 times and two of those sets are the best live sets I have ever witnessed.
I think his set the other day in Houston was probably one of the best DJ sets I've ever heard...
Ok I recommend these CDs, and they were the main reason I wanted to hear him live:
Sasha & Digweed Northern Exposure vol. 1&2

edit-
Get this set it fucking rox:

Digweed is one of the best DJs I heard live. His mixing skills are outstandig. Saw & spoke to him @ his 5h gig on 12th April 2003 in Zurich.
saw him and sasha on the delta heavy tour...pretty good night, enjoyed sasha more, cool to see them trading off on tracks though!
