Smiley DJ Trance Nation 2001 Was Fucking Awful!!!!

what did u all think of trance nation 2001/5? i thought it was fucking awful! with the exceptions of some tracks, it was mainly on cd two, most of the songs on that cd were awful for example

Orion-See me here (skopes dub mix)
Sister Bliss-Deliver me (Lee Coombs mix)
Bedrock-Beatiful strange (Voyager's platinum remix)
Oliver Lieb-lightspeed

and the list could go on, all of tgose songs sound really boring and monotone, more like the stuff you would expect pete tong and seb fontaine to play, nobody tell me there good because there fucking awful! i cant stand that monotone boring repetitive dark/prog house shit!

what da ya fink????????

<-----tong is evil!!!!!

i have to say they really messed up Orion-See me here (skopes dub mix) , i prefer the original mix.

But overall i am a big fan of trance antion, i have almost the whole set. And ferry corsten is god, and the mixin is pritty good. I know it is down to proffesional software, but i like it overall. They are going a little down hill though

Drunk

Yes indeed it was a very commercial release...I bought Ferry's trancemissions 01 instead, and never felt as pleased as I am now with it.I recommend it to any1,whether u are listening to it sober or not it gets ya on a wondeful trance trip of System F.

i like all the TN CDs, I have TN 3-5 and they all do a good job of portraying the tracks that were popular the year before.

i thought it was ok...nothing special

Trance Nation 1 is the best trance mix album ever made without a doubt, its the album that first opened my mind to trance and to Ferry Corsten in particular, what an utter genius that man is!!

You're right though, I've bought them all and TN 5 is one of the poorest in the series, it has way too much plodding prog-house and nothing like the sheer emotional WOW of the first one (TN 3 is the second best for my money). For consistency of quality amongst superclub mix albums, you have to be looking at the Gatecrasher and Slinky releases ... and the last couple of Reactivate albums have been bloody brilliant as well.

Ministry of Sound piss me off though, since they obviously know he's the man for mix albums, why don't they bloody get Ferry to play in the club now and then instead of all that poxy piss weak USA house and fuckin g*r*ge music they be thrashing around the clock these days?? You can't get a good trance night out in a London superclub for any money these days. (Surely with the pace of fashion in the capital, its about time some promoter decided to have a '99 retro night and play some proper spine tingling classic trance the way it used to be done ... puhleeeze??

some really shit traxx are on it.. like

Zombie Nation - Kernkraft 400

omg.. one of the worst traxx ever made
same as darude's - sandstorm gay track

Trance Nation 2001 is okay its just gotten that prog house feel since Trance Nation 4. as always its always the 2nd cd that has prog. the first cd of 4 and 2001 are okay. Trance nation 4 first cd kicks ass eventhough it contains a bit of cheese, i dont mind that

Posted by Kurve on Jul-30-2001 10:03:

i dont buy cds anymore or rarely do....mainly cuz i get most of the songs months before they even are on the cds.... and its just no point in buying them ..and of course there outdated to us cuz we are like Top of the trance culture when it comes to listening to new songs!!!! those cds are attended for the more novice liseners ..adn those cds are made months before they get released so thats why sometimes the songs or playlist is kinda old!

It's very poor.

The first CD is worse than the second. All the tracks are Radio Edit length and were dated and overplayed by the time of it's release. CD2 is better though it's very progressive, but at least it's got some tracks I hadn't heard before!

Posted by xenderz on Jul-30-2001 16:38:

cant say its that badd...
ferry corsten seems to be jaded this days..its time for him to move on.
his gigs aint as breath-taking as before. i dunno why too , either the problem lies with him or me.

anyway, i dont think disc 2 is better than disc 1.
the first time i heard this album , i thought, ahhh well. average album.

but i've been listening to it for some time now.
seems relaxed to my ears.

disc 1 got quite a handful of good tracks example tenth planet - ghosts , johan gielen - velvet moodes, gouryella - tenshi , joshua ryan - pistol whip(though i prefer the james holden remix [KICKS ASS !!!!!]) etc

disc 2 is more of a house compilation than a trance compilation as in disc 1. mekka - diamondback is awesome so are kid vicious - reform , dj tiesto - flight 643.

my verdict, 6/10 stars for that album , your opinion may be different from mine , but its okay with me. transition is almost flawless. i've got the TN series, if u compare them all. this is the worst. there are better compilations out there tha n this though , like slinky, ministry of sound , cream etc..

Is it Ferry Corsten or Ministry Of Sound who makes the tracklisting? I would think it's MOS, it's far too commercial.

Posted by Dmatrox on Jul-30-2001 21:26:

First off:

Like most of you have said already, the tracks are monotonous. After hearing jan jonston's flesh and schiller's das cockerspaniel for the 3rd time that day i began to get annoyed.

There are tons of records out there, cant they pick something listeners never heard before? thats a reason why i dont listen to the commercial radio.

The mixing was nice tho.

Posted by Shudder on Jul-31-2001 02:24:

after the third trance nation i gave up. too many tracks with too little time for each one just like all the other MOS CDS. also its progressive at its worse...the most over played progressive records are included in TN 5. i looked at the trackllistings and said this is disgusting... never bought it never will not even a download is in thought

Posted by El Mariachi on Aug-02-2001 17:04:

Maybe its because I'm in Ohio, and the trance/Electronic Dance Music scene is for shit (as far as I know), but I didn't think that the Clubber's Guide 2000 or 2001 CD's were that bad.

TN 2001 has some tracks that I've long since downloaded... and I'd like to pick it up to at least have a legal copy

Posted by yujie__ on Aug-02-2001 17:23:

at least cd1 is better than In Trance We Trust 6, which is the worst of the series. the track selection suck and have some of the same one from TN4, badd.
