BT & Oakenfold in Apple Commercials

Don't know if anyone has seen this yet, but on www.apple.com there are some new (and some old) videos, with music by Paul Oakenfold and BT. Check out the Panter video at http://www.apple.com/macosx/video/large.html to hear and see BT. Oakey (his song "starey eyed surprise) is in the video for iLife 04 which can be seen here http://www.apple.com/ilife/video/.

Just an FYI.

Starry Eyed Suprise - if ever a song was written to feature in commercials then this is it!

Electronic music is just pulling in a large enough (countable) fan base now that new venues are opening up for the DJs. Naturally some of them are testing the waters and others are completely selling out (Moby). It'll be interesting to see which DJs remain true to their roots that their musical genre came from and which decide to try for bigger and better things.

Well, PvD appeared in a Motorola commercial not too far back...I remember seeing DJ Rap in a Twix commercial too. Might not be the greatest thing for EDM but I understand how the artists want to make money.

It doesn't surprise me how Oakenfold and BT are doing this. BT has been doing music for movies and even video games now and Oakenfold has been doing music for movies too. I guess their just looking for more ways to make money and get their music out there.

Electronica is always used in commercials, and has been for as long as I can remember. Actually, it's primarily the place that you hear in the US.

If it's not used in commercials then they use it for background music in a show. But very rarely will you hear a song on the radio or see a music video.

Yeah, like you would say no to the opportunity to make some extra
cash if it was given to you. Get real.

Sigh.

Bollocks. Moby a sell out? Come on. His music sells to the mainstream but isnt watered down. He can still appeal to the underground crowd too. Have you listened to his new 18 B-Sides Remix album? I love it. And obviously he likes the underground, otherwise he wouldnt feature Ferry Corsten, John Creamer+Stephane K, and Tiesto on the album as well.

There would be no reason for Moby to "sell out" his style for money because he isnt about materialism anyways. If you see his MTV Cribs, his house is so zen and bare. The only thing of value in his house is his studio.

The reason he can appeal to a mainstream audience is because unlike pretty much 99% of all electronic music producers, he can play all of his instruments live. He plays the bongos, the guitar, the keyboards, etc. You need to check out the 18 BSides Remix Album because it includes a video of a live performance of his. Its amazing how he is running around the stage like a mad man playing all the instruments.
