Frontline World on PBS - Iranian Student Movement

Did anyone happen to catch Frontline World on PBS last night. I advise you to check out http://www.pbs.org/frontlineworld/stories/iran/

If you need a more clearer case of why Iran needs to be reformed its demonstrated in this documentary. Student demonstrators who are tired of the mullahs were brave enough to have their faces shown on camera discussing the internal structure of Irans government in dealing with them. Students are arrested and jailed, tortured and whipped, the main campus at Tehran University was attacked by a bunch of thugs working for the mullahs and for 18hrs went on a rampage destroying the dormitories and beating up students who they got their hands until they were bloody. I admire these kids because they are some brave individuals for speaking out so loudly in a place where the real power lies with the hardline religous clerics who are intent on maintaining a vice on any internal dissent among the people. The journalist who was killed a few months back Zahra Kazemi according to the report was beaten mercilessly because she stood up to the security forces after she was arrested and wouldn't back down from them. Thinking she would be treated lightly being Canadian of Iranian origin she stood up to them and that only made them more angry and abusive to her.

Thanks alot for this NYC...

My cousins were actually imprisoned and beaten for two weeks for protesting....they were one of the unfortunate ones.

I cant wait till the day when those piece of shit mullahs run away and get crushed. My dream is to see thier turbin thingy's burn while still on their heads.

I hear you Cyrus man, I could just feel the tension as the journalist who snuck into Iran and was working with the student group to get the story together was travelling on the streets. I remember that one of the contacts who was driving her around Iran seemed so relaxed yet nervous while travelling in the car with the journalist and the cameras. I felt that at any moment they would be stopped by security forces. When she entered Iran she told the Iranian officials that she was an Archaeologist in order to not be as rigorously followed and she was given a hotel curfew time.

Those students showed me some guts for what they were doing though, despite the fact that they know they will be arrested and beaten in prison, not to mention the reporter who got the story (she's off to the Balkans next) One of the movement leaders even told his mother not to cry, he chose this method of political action, he is ready to suffer for it and she should be proud of him. This was a couple of days before he was to be taken to jail to serve a sentence he was convicted of for demonstrating. I advise people to check out the story it is really a fascinating eye opener especially for all young people from a respected source in Frontline World.
