Shocking image in EGM
Repost from the other forum :

As you can see, Russian soldiers are pictured on this photo...info is an advertisement to some game for PS2, that was published in EGM(electronic gaming monthly) Notice the black ribbons on the pics that soldiers are holding, which appear to be the box covers of the game.
Now here is the original...

Those soldiers are The Russian Honour Guard at the funeral of kia troops from "Sofrinskaya" Brigade. They are holding pictures of their fallen comrades that died in Chechnya.
Whoever did that fucking advertisement is a complete moron, to say the least. Honestly, this is the first and only thing, which I've seen on the net, that completely pissed me off. Total absence of morals & respect...just how ignorant and arrogant can those fucks be?! How would the public react if they tried to pull that shit off with planes sticking out of WTC?! WTF is wrong with people in our days??
if u got an opinion about this, check the url: http://www.petitiononline.com/donthate/petition.html
That is just wrong...I signed the petition and I posted it on another forum I visit. I can't believe how cold blooded people can be.
is that even legal?
poor ToBapNw (
)don't deserve this
man talk about bad PR.. very distasteful.. i don't think they ever thought anyone here would notice this..
and even if ppl didn't, it's still disrespectful
The video game industry has reached the lowest ever. Back in the days it was gameplay ... now they reach to a level were they can't make a good games anymore. They decide to make a game like GTA.
THIS TAKES THE ICING OF THE CAKE! NO RESPECT AT ALL!
That's complete and utter disrespect to not only the russian people but to the dead soldiers and their families...
sucks :/
Someone's head is going to roll in the marketing department, that's for sure.
itikia

Great idea for an ad, really stupid fucking choice of a photo to do it to!
I can't believe how low some people are willing to go these days.
Shameful !!

What kinda advertising neomort forgot that Russians have Internet access too?
Lame....real lame...
I think its a great ad campaign!
the idea of soldiers holding a game like they would a weapon (you dont normally think of soldiers holding photos) I think its well done.
taking a previsouly taken photo and altering it, w/in that context is pretty shady. Great idea tho!
reading it again, I realize its not an ad campaign, and doubtfull that the ppl @ SOCOM had anything to do with it.
its a guide put together for stupid people who can figure out how to pass the game.

worse may be the fact that getty images is selling that photo and making all the $$ off it........
that stuff is stupid.
it is wrong for the simple fact that it was a real picture taken from a real situation. what happens when we re-create those types of images ourselves. isn't that just as bad? because we do that all the time. society sucks.
The idea for the advertisement isn't all that bad, but the fact that they've replaced pictures of fallen soldiers with pictures of video games is so very distasteful, not to mention the intended purpose of the whole picture in general.
hey is that legal? cuz the family of the man pictured in the foreground might have a lawsuit. one that they might be able to settle for a nice price to avoid even more bad pr.
