Anyone ever seen/used one of these?

http://www.firebox.com/index.html?d...showAllImages=0

im looking at the SL:1 model. 60 is alot of money for a torch, but they are hella useful for work. i already have one small torch, its cool, but sometimes not enough. this diode technology looks mint. they recon 5 miles but id be inclinded to take that with a pinch of salt.

any views?

I guess u could justify it for ur work ..

Tho I guess it could have other uses .. like for clubbing .. haha you could be really evil and shine it in ppl's eyes *evilgrin*

id use it for work. going thro lofts and shit and u cant be arsed to rig up a light, so it needs to be bright with some degree of a spread. im doing some serious torch digging. i already have one mini sized torch which is quite cool, i think i maybe just wasting money thro bordem

it does have a serious use. after some investigation its became apparnt that theyre better versions on the market, ones that house 17 LED's and stuff

aye... the bigger ones with decent spread are brilliant, almost indestructable. mate baught one from work cos we sell em, he got the stupidly sized one thats about 3 feet long cos he got mugged while walking his dog one night. he now carries that around and feels a lot safer. its like a baseball bat with an ultra bright end on it.

Pah!!

I say bring back oil lamp and candles a fire hazard i know but healthier for the environment

now why is that healthier for the environment?

Posted by Misty Kitty on Jan-12-2004 13:39:

^^ erm ok mebbe not the oil lamps

but candles definitely especially if you take into account how long it takes for batteries to decompose, or not in their case.

i got a free torch with my multi tool which is far ample for lighting usage.

Several Glow Sticks and string of adequate length should do the trick.

Yup, maglites are where its at and you get a liftime guarantee with em. U want a big six cell 1 like this beauty below, doubles up as a lethal weapon. U shine the torch in the scally's eye to blind em then twat them round the head with handle:

Or it can be used for completely legit purposes

Posted by Cru54d3r on Jan-12-2004 21:01:

In some unpopulated countries where theres no city lights and such where it gets really dark .. supposedly u can see a candle burning from at least 10miles away

i dont think anyone is understanding why im going for a diode torch and not a lamp, and a diode torch would make a "maglite" look like a brussel sprout.

Diode torches may be more powerful, but dont look half the business as one of those massive mags now do they?
