Talking BIG UPDATE ( OCTOBER 2004 ): Icarus Did Survive V3 ( Full Version )

BIG UPDATE ( OCTOBER 2004 ):

Hi people !

I want Icarus to be still alive...
I never liked the idea of Icarus dying
here is the final version of my new track:

Icarus woke up on the shores of Greece.
Not knowing his own identity
he made a step forward
a step into his
brand new life.

Enjoy it !

EDIT 10/02/2004: Full Version updated onto new server. Changed synths and melodies. Enjoy and give feedback please !

goooood!

Hi Trancevision

Great song you have made. I really like the mixture between the hard and soft and I believe you succeeded in combinding those two! I really like the first melody with the guitarish sound. I like the second melody less, that starts after the fourth minute. I like the melody, but not really the synth sound. Brutal beat by the way!!

Bye,

somershine

WOW! I admire the whole idea of this song! A play with the Flutlicht Icarus idea, and making sure he survives. I think that's an interesting idea, and that's great man!

I like those sounds in the intro, which has a bit of those hardcore synth sounds. The kick sounds interesting in this track, and I admire your ideas!

WOW! At 2:45 I totally did see what you wrote. I pictured Icarus on that shore just waking up, from his 'fall' into the Ocean, as his wings were burned by the sun (as in the myth)

And those vocals at 3:37! I LOVE THAT STYLE! So deep, so dark, so different. 4:00 minutes, and up - CRAZY! Some pretty deep, thoughts, and emotions you had here, composing this song dude!!! This is definetly thinking outside of the box!

Keep up this work Trancevision! I like where you are going! I'll give this song an 8.5. Not 100% my style, but I love where your going. Cheers! Love your attitude as a producer! -Mental

I like the fact that he survives too, as the whole mythology is based on the fact that it gets hotter as you fly closer to the sun, when in reality it's colder the higher you get; go Icarus =P

This isn't at all my style of tunage but I like it nonetheless. The production level is quite good; nice hard trance bassline. The kick is nice and pounding and I like how it has a bit of a breakbeat behind it. Keep up the good work!

thanks for this encouraging comments so far !

The main point I am quite unsure is the main melody which starts after the break. Somedow I am not quite satisfied with it...perhaps some of you could give an idea what could be improved

This track sounds awesome man. I've definitely switched into the progressive side of trance, but I still got mad love for tunes like these!

Very nicely produced - the sounds are all quality and work very well together.

Not sure if I like it as much as "you can't stop evolution" (which a friend showed to me awhile ago" - but it still rocks.
Keep up the good work.

I am absolutely LOVING THIS!!! Propa wicked!!!

This really is awesome!!!

Even though they might say this style is 'old', I still love to hear this in a (trance) world packed with emotional-driving-epic mambojambo. Makes me remember those Trancemaster series from a year back, which I always thought were awesome.

This sounds neat in every way to me mate, good work on the bass & percs in my opinion, sounds like good hard trance. I personally see nothing wrong with that melody, perhaps add some phatness to the lead synth and it'll be alright.

Keep it up!
Cheers,
Wim

thank you John!

I think I will leave the melody but I might improve the overall sound if get some better sounds from a good hardware synth. I really would like to improve the melody sounding...

Absolutly fucking loved this mate! there has been a lacking of decent hard trance for a while now but this is exactly wot i need. Loved the structure and general idea for the track. percussion was nice. only thing maybe to improve like others have said is a more powerful/thicker lead but other than that, spot on

Posted by Trancevision on Jan-24-2004 13:54:

thanks for all feedback and messages I got. Gonna rework the main synth and overall quality...

Good starting beats, awesome vocals, and phat drum after that, cool!
Nice strings and fx. Nice "climax" at 2:20.

4:10 here comes the lead, very cool! Should be some louder tho, i think.

Cool break at 9.56!

Although i think the songs lacks something (dunno what, maybe it's just my taste) it sounds awesome!

Posted by Trancevision on Feb-24-2004 18:27:

due to the very good feeback and requests for high quality version from several people telling me that they really love this tune, I am gonna rework the main melody with my new synth [ ] , improve overall mixing and bassline. It will take some time because some plugins don't work the way they should but be sure for ICARUS being still alive

can't wait man! I loved the ideas of this song!

Nice work mate!
The things I liked:
- 303 acid synth
- nice dreamy pads
- the part from 2:47 to 3:28 is awesome !

One thing I really didn't like is this robotic voice.

Anyway,well done!

Posted by hey cheggy on Feb-28-2004 15:32:

Yeah man, I remember the acid in that track. It was evil inspiring, world domination evil inspiring. But first, I must finish my plan to steal the dacari machine from work.

UPDATED !!!!

After the enormous feedback I got via ICQ, PM and email from several people including some DJs ( who really wanted a better version for playing it ) you can get the the updated version:

- changed melody line and melody synth. Sounds somehow more energetic now, a really nice "nord rack2" synth

- removed hardtrance bass with a new bass from my "brand new" nord rack2 -> gives better and clearer sound on HUGE audio systems for playing in clubs around the world

- acid now doesn't hurt any more if you play this tune really loud

- no dropout due to cpu problems

- better mp3 rate

- improved overall mixdown due to new "plug-ins"

- wider stereo field

- voice samples less distorted

- reworked pad sounds
