How Long Have All Of You Been Into Electronic Music?
and what was the path you were on until this day?
ive been into electronic dance music since the late 80's
started off with house, then jungle, then hardcore/gabber *LOL*, the HHC *LOOOOOOOOOL*, to trance, then to progressive...
what about all of you?
got into trance big time in 2002.before that i was a well into rock/metal since 1996.pretty big change for me lol.but its all good...
Got into EDM when I was in highschool, which was about 6 years ago. Alot of kids in my school were going to parties. I enjoy pretty much every genre except for gabber/hardcore. I've been big into trance for the past 3 or so years.
Ever since Music For the Jilted Generation.
Starting listening to strictly EDM only around 1998. Before that I was big into rap/hip-hop. In a way I was always into EDM, I just didn't realise it. I used to listen to Erasure all the time back in the day and alot of other older dance artists.
Don't get me wrong though, I'm not hardheaded and listen to ONLY EDM. I enjoy some rock and still even an occasional rap tune here and there (even though the majority of it has turned to garbage).
About 4 years ago... started with commercial dance, then happy hardcore (die!), then cheesy trance, then pure trance, then progressive, and now I can listen to anything from progressive trance/house (mostly house
) to tribal, techno, and a little bit of dnb...
when the Wipeout games came out on PSX
a varied musical pallette is a great thing to have isnt it?

Also around 4 years ago when I came to college. My roomate was sortof into it. Even though he really didn't know what he was talking about he knew more than me.
I'd have to say that I've been listening to electronic music for a majority of my life, probably dates back to the days of 2Unlimited...OMG I can't believe I just referenced that
Anyway, I really didn't get hardcore into it until 2000. My first party ever was WEMF 2000, and hearing TRANCE for the first time, captured me and never let go... Thanks OS/2!
Late 1994 I think.
2000
depends what you consider electronic
I got into eurodance in 1995, went to jungle in 1998, trance in 1999 and so on.
well i started listening to hardcore in the beginning of the nineties. before i used to listen to basically everything, inncluding the oldschool house. in 1997 i stopped listening to hardcore and started with trance. but i was already addicted to trance in 1995. in the meantime i also listen a lot of techno, hardstyle and progressive. i just don't like those guinnea-pig boxes around everything. btw i'm listening atm to id&t thunderdome broadcast
brings back memories
2000 when I was 15
My friend introduced me to some Happy Hardcore and 666
although I really liked Robert Miles - Children in the mid 90's but I had no clue that it was labeled 'trance'
hmm, i think for me it was a while ago, when i was about 14, i used to buy the annuals and listen to them at full volume all the time, but then i had a time when i stopped listening to it but once again it has come back around and i have recently gotten back into it.
If anyone has any suggestions of tracks to re-kindle my spirit then feel free to let me know
I started to listen and like EDM in 2000. I was 15 and I liked euro dance music, cheese and some happy hardcore.
tbh i can't remember anymore, but the most definite date i think i extremly fell in love with trance was in 2002. I did hear electronica before then but never knew what it was and didn't interest me as much...then trance came along and took me along with it.
around 2000 maybe 99.
hmm
i started listening to edm when i was a big Pet Shop Boys fans, that lp wich had domino dancing on it was eaarly house . So i belive i started in 1987, then got into prodigy in 92 then gabber after 93 then hard techno in 96 and then trance in 98 and then hardstyle in 2002
But i like everything from house to gabber
for about 10 years.
I always used to see that 'Pure Moods' commercial in the late 90s. I loved the song 'Children' on there by Robert Miles, and became a Miles fan. Then around 1999 I saw a commercial for Paul Oakenfold - Perfect Prsents: Another World, and I HAD to buy it. Then I went to download more Oakey and in February of 2000, stumbled upon the rip of KFC One's 200 New Years party, which featured the Gatecrasher set of Paul's. I LOVED the sets on the party, then got into ATB first, then Rank 1, then Tiesto, now I'm a trance freak. Don't think I'd even know who half of these people are if it hadn't been for that new years party though...

Late 1998 - Mid 1999 I was just starting to get into it all. What a year that was !!!!!!! I remember it like it was yesterday.
My sophomore year in high school 1998 was when i first got into EDM with Prodigys -Fat Of The Land cd.But I usually only listened to Metallica,Rage against the machine, offspring, pink floyd and stuff like that .But I did'nt get into trance till my junior year in 99 when a friend of mine in class told me to hear Ibiza 99 year of the trance cd with songs in it like sashas xpander(my fave ever) ,out of the blue, for an angel, cafe del mar and pretty much every other classic track.Started going to some raves and clubs shortly after and the trance addiction began.
