Hard house for newbies : )

I'm wondering where I should start to get into hard house... I like what I've heard so far... any particular artists I should start listening to???

Well I started pretty recently and I've found that BK & Andy Farley sound good, as well as Lisa Pin-up and a bit of Diddy, these guys do very good hard house (in my opinion). hope this helps

Peace

I was going to ask the same thing...Ive resently been hearing some good tunes and found out that most of them are considered Hard House...so I was gonna start looking for DJ's / sets...

First you should realize that there are really two styles that are considered Hard House (around the world). In North America Hard House is funkier and housier, but still very hard with distorted kick drums (like Bad Boy Bill, DJ Irene, Richard "Humpty" Vission), whereas in the UK, most Hard House is much trancier (like the stuff released on the Tidy Trax label). I believe that UK Hard House is often called NU-NRG or just NRG in North America. At least that's the impression that I've gotten since I started raving. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Good Luck finding what you're looking for...

Sal

Idea Hi ya!

Hi there! Recently I have been starting to swtich gears from trance to uk hard house. I can give ya a good start. Here's some great websites to explore to get ya started:

www.hardnrg.com
www.bangingtunes.com (Sell hard house vinyl and have lots of samples and live sets)
www.djmorgan.com
www.energyuk.net

Also some of the top tunes to get ya feeling the groove:

Lisa-Pin Up - Another Jam
Dj Misjah and DJ Tim - Access 2000 (KY Jelly Beans remix)
JDS - NineWays(Darude and JS-16 Remix)
Storm - Storm (BK and Nick Sentience Remix)
Captin Tinrib - Save The Rave

I think that most of these are classics, but they kick fucking ass.

And Some kick ass live mixes you SHOULD download:

Lisa Lashes - Live on Slam FM, 10-14-00 (FUCKING AWESOME!)
Fergie - Essential Mix, 1-14-01
CBR - Live at Sixty Nine
DJ Morgan - Decepton Mix (Can be found at bangingtunes.com)

Some fucking awesome CD's:

Nukleuz Hard House Anthems 2001
BK Hard House Anthems III
Lisa Lashes Euphoric Hard House... Something like that

Hope this can get ya started!

Also a few notes: There are about 4 varieties of hard house, UK Hard house, NYC Hard house, Chicago Hard House and Vocal Hard House. Your probably looking for UK hard house, it has a fast beat with a more trancy feel. Also Nu-Nrg used to be a sub division of Uk Hard house with such contributors like Madam Zu, Lab 4 and Jon Doe just to name a few, but now it has its own genre because it has evoloved away from UK Hard House. It kinda sound like UK hard house but without the typical "hoover" sound and uses more air-synth type sounds. The best examples of this would be something like Madam Zu - Junction 13.

latez,
