Is he spinning as Richie or as Plastikman?
I believe he's spinning as Richie (isn't Plastikman his live PA moniker?) but this is part of the "Closer" tour - he'll probably be playing a bit more on the minimal side, but I would expect a set that is mixed with a mix of techno flavors - minimal, housier, and some bang.
Richie plays his sets in a pattern of 20-30 minute builds I have noticed...
There's word that he will be appearing at HMV downtown (Yonge st? Not sure...will check on that) on Friday the 30th.
i wish he would play like he did in the early 90s... hard bangin!!
but im also cool with minimal/funk/house
First time I've seen the evite....freaky.
Freaky in a "pop star techno" kinda way.
I think Toronto will get a similar set to what I am expecting in Ottawa..

His Montreal set sounds siiiiiiiick however, on Feb 1st, it's him as Plastikman (yes, LIVE PA) Vs. Mateo Murphy.. wish I could go! sweet gig for Mateo too.
John (or anyone), what's the deal with guestlist vs. buying advance tickets @ $20?
I don't mind getting there early since I want to hear our fine TA DJs in the VIP room anyway Just curious to know which is the better option, thanks! btw...with adv. tickets, would we skip the line?

I think this guy is horrible, i dunno bout his mix'n techniques, but i haven't gotten that far. I don't know who likes this experimental crap ( in my opinion anyways), but for those of you who do...
What do you see in his music??

He was amazing back in 2001 @ tonic, one of the best sets i have ever heard. Mr. Rogers you would have loved that set, but I agree with you, recently richie hasnt been putting out good productions/livesets. You come across the odd good live set. That latest vinyl he put out is ok if you are a really technical DJ, its just a lot of looped samples, in my opinion it sucked. He is another DJ we have lost to digital to. I myself dont like the idea of a DJ spinning a whole set and not throwing down a single vinyl. P.A is a different story. He is a talented guy... sometimes.

^^^ I agree,, hes a talented guy all the time,, someone out there has to try new things,, and he brings it to the table,, ive seen him so many times i cant count on my hands,,when he goes real experimentel you just have to sit there and be amazed at what he is doing, but when hes bringing it hard,, holy FUCK

Don't get me wrong....i love it when dj's go out on a lim and define themselves as " different.
But i just think in this case different doesn't always mean good.
Sure he's probably mis-understood to a lot of us ( including me), but honestly i just don't get it. but thats just me
