Your cause for concern is noted, however I must stress the need for you to grow a penis. This lack of growth on your part is affecting your judgment in a deep and intense way. It can only be of some consequence that I actually don't mind you sometimes, however it is your apparent lack of male genetalia which sometimes leaves me with no choice but to hate you, sometimes even despise you. It breaks my heart to see a man of apparent personality, such as yourself, suffer from such a devistating situation as that of having no penis.

Good day to you Sir, and good health & God speed for your recovery & rehabilitation.

Much love,

Slade

I am deeply disturbed & devistated, almost offended by the lack of appreciation for pixie trance on these boards.

So how would you describe pixie trance? perhaps there is a lack of appreciation because not many people have heard it, i mean its not an 'offical' genre is it?

of course its official!

Pixie trance basically defines those tracks verging on the side of progressive & trance with the hint of electro played out by the likes of James Holden, Sasha & Nick Warren.

ie: Epsilon 9 - Lifeormation (Infernal Machine Mixes)

So whats the diference between pixie trance and progressive trance then?

What about Epsilon 9 - Lifeformation (classified project remix)??
I like that mix, that pixie trance?

Posted by Huebor on Jan-16-2004 07:24:

Pixie trance is an after effect of Progressive trance ..

Listen to the Progressive trance, you fall asleep and then the pixies come and touch your bottom whilst you sleep.

Pixie trance was pioneered by James Holden, and further developed through the likes of himself, Gwill Morris, Luke Chable and a lot of the new guys in the Border Community scene.

The term was actually used first by Pete Tong, im pretty sure.

I doubt we will find much support here Slade, I mean, most of these guys rate Rank 1 and Oceanlab.

2 other tunes that will rock big time;

(not really pixie trance)

Way Out West - Apollo
Infusion - Untitled (last track off thier EM and last track they played in Adelaide 09/12)

hmm, they are similar, but different

hard to beleive this track is a year old, but only becoming huge of the last few months.

If pixie trance is the sort of stuff that James Holden has taken to producing then you can count me out. Pretty much everything he's done since One4U (apart from Nothing - so including Solstice, Pacific, I Have Put Out the Light, Break in the Clouds, The Wheel etc.) has been forgettable, especially by his standards. It's just unnecessary, blippity-bloppetty nonsense imho. :-/

I mean seriously, compare his newer stuff to some of this older stuff, which ranks amongst the best in the short history of electronic music:

Mainline - Inner Space
Ogenki Clinic vs Future Sound Collective - Beautiful (<-- best bassline ever)
Blu Peter - Funky Suite (James Holden Remix) (<-- best vocal ever)
Blue Amazon - Breathe (James Holden Remix)
James Holden - Horizons
DJ Remy - Backstabber (Ariane Remix) (<-- second best bassline ever)
Timo Maas vs Mad Dogs - Better Make Room (James Holden Remix)
Ogenki Clinic - First Light
Roland Klinkenberg - Inner Laugh (James Holden Remix)

This is just a small selection of his earlier work, yet all of these were classics, with monster basslines, sublime melodies and exceptional production values all of which seem to be missing from his more recent stuff. Don't get me wrong - his stuff is still better than a lot of the prog-trance being released and if his GK set was anything to go by then he's a unique, very good DJ - but he's lost his trademark sound with his more recent stuff. Now you might say that everyone has to move forward and change their sound, but his newer stuff just seems - like I said - dull and uninspired.

So, feel free to flame away, but it needed to be said.

Nah it was also pretty big on the trance scene a year ago, Ferry played it quite a bit and so did Armin.

Maybe it takes prog djs that long to figure out a good song. :

Putting people down to raise yourself isn't cool.

I'm a fan of pixie trance,

Will post some set links and track soon.
