Icone - Everywhere (Original Mix)

Hey all,

I've uploaded the full 192 kbps mix of one of my new tunes to my server. You can download it here (right click, save as) :

icone-everywhere__original_mix__192kbps_ [updated]

I'm not sure yet if I will keep the (recognizeable) vocals in this tune... Might make things a bit too obvious and predictable. Lemme know what you think about it

Cheers,
Wim

Great track as always. I have a few nitpicks though.

First, the choir, great melody there, but i don't think they should be solo'd for so long because they are pretty obviously synth choirs. Maybe filter them some more or put different kinds of effects on them to make them not stand out as much.

Also, the bassline is excellent, but imo too loud when coupled with the kick, sometimes overpowers the lead.

Other than that great work. Love those strings.

great one, as always, could use it in one of my next mixes

just 1 thing: the vocals are too quiet...

Track has a lot of energy and at the same time a very calm break that fits perfectly into it. A combination like that isn't easy to achieve without making the track loose it's power, but you have managed to do it perfectly. I do believe that this might be the best of you that I've herd so far.

SoM :: thanks for your comment once more mate, you're free to spill your opinion(s) towards me, they're always helpful

Well, I didn't sing those choirs myself, of course they are synth choirs I honestly wouldn't hear the difference myself between a softsynth choir or hardware choir though, what makes it that way?

DJ NGE :: I know about the vocals, I will probably leave them out as a whole and master the track up again. Glad you like it

Digital Rain :: thx mate! I'm glad to see you like it.

Nah, I just mean synth choirs in general, software or hardware. Im not really a fan of them except for in certain cases, like with MK-S' tracks because they are gated. Maybe try out some different effects with them.

They sound incredible in the last couple tracks you've done cause you've backed em up with other sounds, its just that solo bit that bothers me.

Posted by Etherium on Jan-18-2004 23:54:

You need a couple of Voices of the Apocolypse samples Wim. I'd love to see you incorporate those into your work.

Posted by dbl on Jan-19-2004 00:09:

don't like the vocal... some vocal like that's in it now would be nice.. but not the matrix vocal.... and you have already used it.. hehe

otherwise it sounds really nice.. agree with SoM thou about the lenght of the choir... if it would have been a real choir it would have rocked.. but not a synth choir

anyway.. great track as usual

Thanks for lightening that up mate You think maybe a volume effect to gate them might work better? Or should I just get rid of that solo part in your opinion?

Thanks to the rest, I'm glad you guys like it. I didn't know anyone would remember the previous time I used those vocals, was like ages ago I'm gonna update the mix and remove the vocals this afternoon, first gotta do an exam I'll upload again when ready.

didnt mind the vocals in the song.
one of the synths in this i would really like to know how to do, it comes in at 1:16, sort of a pizzicato sring type synth.

great work. keep it up

Thanks mate!

The pluck synth is a Pro52 synth, I love this synth for that sound specifically (and some sound fx) What I did was setting the keyboard follow to zero, filter decay to a little further than halfway, same as the volume decay. Release about the same, maybe a little further. Resonance to about 25%, you'll have to see what filter cutoff freq suits best. As for the oscillators, it might already be enough to set them to sawtooths and detune the second one just a tiny bit.

Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Wim

Great track, intro is fucking wicked ! I liked the bass alot, digging the Choir break , melody is fantastic, not so keen about its arrangment though.
Overall excellent work, .

EM.

dunno what everyone is on about, this is an amazing track IMO!!

i personally love the choir, it sounds very full..
the vocals go really well during the break, i think.

melody is wonderful as well, it is indeed very epic.
i'd just up the volume of the main lead a tiny bit, it will be even more massive then!

great job, this should be the Antwerp is Burning anthem!

Thanks EM and Kevin, glad you guys like it. I'm gonna try and improve the track a bit more this evening and reup it asap.

Take care,
Wim

Wow, I love when it comes out of the first breakdown, makes you want to throw your hands up. The little breakbeat part is nice too, but I'm not too big on the vocals. In the beginning they sound fine but I'm not sure if they get drowned out or you fade them but they're hard to hear as it progresses.

Great job, Wim.

Nooo! I think the vocals should stay. They fit really well into the break and give the track something extra.

The track as a whole is mint. Just boost the volume on the vocals a bit...

Wow lovely, i liked this a lot. Keep it up.

Thanks for having a listen fellas, I'm glad you guys like it

I'm sorry, but I got rid of those vocals (they were kind of a spin off anyway) and did a small remastering of the track. The volume of the main lead has been leveled up a bit, bass is more compressed overall, so it normally shouldn't take away anything of the rest. Lemme know what you think (als those who'd want to download it again)

Like this a lot, the only thing I can criticise is the kick; sounds as though there's some kind of artifact on the tail end of it or something, can't really describe it.

Don't you love that Pro-52/53 Wim?!?!

Nice build you have going in that intro man! I'm enjoying the style you are going with now, man! That synth around 120 is awesome as HELL! I love it man! That sound at 2:22 was pretty phat too!

Man, if this doesn't get signed, I don't know what work of yours won't! This track has a bit of power, and uplifting elements.

Yes, the Synth Choir does sound synthy of course, but it had some interesting dark themes. It actually sounded purdy to me! I love the way it melted into the track man! Damn, Wim, your sound has gotten a LOT BETTER!!!!

I'm enjoyin this man! The melody after the break fit so much! And damn what POWER! KEEP THIS UP!!! -Mental

Hey mate, I know abojut that kic, it's a sample I downloaded somewhere. I tried messing with it in Goldwave, but didn't get rid of that sound. What's an artifact though? I thought it was an ancient object

I love those synths yes, they fit for quite alot of sounds I think. I'm glad you like it mate, thanks very much for your comment. I'm not gonna keep my hopes up yet for this tune, cause I've learned my lesson about those labels since Meriva...

Cheers,
Wim
