you have poor taste i bet, and what did u listen to for 2 years?? u must be kidding of what you wrote. i think u need to read more and really get into the "scene"...(just dont make a statement right away)

Some people just lack that talent of distinguishing grey areas of muzik, especially trance. Yet they barge in with a "I Know It All" bullshit.

You know what, don't think so much, listen to trance and dance you monkey!

he's right you know... real trance like dj sammy & scooter DOES sound the same as it did a few years ago

you know.. the stuff that gets all the attention does sound like all the same and had zero progress for a few years.. he's just right. but then there's also loads of innovative and different stuff going around, you just need to search harder for it as no-one gives them attention.

if you only like uplifting/epic, take a look in TA's amateur producers forum. many stuff there is sounding more creative and inspired than the real releases.

I disagree, DJ Sammy's most recent album is much better than his first.

oh please. you're only fooling yourself if you try to tell me I don't what Im talking about, etc. etc. You know the artists. the ones who use the same sounds and style for every remix/original production. No progress. ok they change like one break. But same start, same damn patterns and sounds. Im talking about the ones where you can pick up RIGHT AWAY who made it. I don't want to mention any names. I will mention the genre, whiskers had it right, its "uplifting" trance.

arctic I was using capital letters for emphasis, not for any other reason, good bye.

So fucking what?
Rock has sounded exactly the same since the sixties and I don't hear anyone complaining.

Muppet.

Er, Mr Mystery, what the hell are you talking about? I'm not exactly a rock fan, but I can safely say you're talking out of your arse.

Why?
Guitars, drums, bass, vocals.
It's pretty much the same to me.

What I mean is that both have some sort of rules to classify them as certain genre which will always remain the same.

Uplifting trance sounds like uplifting trance.
Garage rock sounds like garage rock.

Don't like it - don't listen to it.

Posted by Mebot on Jan-20-2004 01:59:

uh oh

here we go again on another 14 or 15 page long thread about whats good or in or if trance is dead or not

Me personally, i think Trance does sound different and it looks like its going in a very promising direction.

And your an expert in what exactly? I see you're from the US so that means you probably have no idea about good trance. You're stating an opinion and opinions are like assholes...everyone has one.

I believe trance, like most other electronic music genres, is evolving more rapidly than anything else we've ever seen. Producers are having to get more and more creative with their sounds, and consequently, the music is always evolving.

Take trance a few years back. You'd use an 808 or a 909 or something similar, maybe add some slight reverb/compression and eq, and you were done. Now sounds are distorted so much that in some cases you can't tell which drum machine (or which actual drumset) was used for the original sample.

Same thing with synths. It used to be that a decent supersaw was deemed "good enough," but now it's not. Once again, producers are doing crazy things to distinguish themselves.

And so what if you can recognize who made what track just by listening to it? The same is true for other genres of music. Musical biases aside, does the fact that I can identify Linkin Park's lead vocalist or signature sound mean that they're any worse? If you said yes, that's tantamount to saying a certain brand of peanut butter tastes different because they changed the label.

I disagree trance changes alot..

99 - Trance with great melodys, anthem after anthem was produced

00/01 - Trance was more harder, hard-trance was very popular also prog was getting more popular

02 - Trance became 'progier' if you know what I mean. Best example is Portishead - Roads (although its not from 02 ). Markus Schulz combines Trance with prog and he has great success...

03 - Lots of newcomers, great trance was produced again.. Prog with trance is still big....

Thats all IMO of course..
