i've seen one at my local record store, so i guess they arent too rare

Posted by DJ-Fuq on Jan-19-2004 09:28:

The 1s u can buy are about 750 each here but theyre not fully gold plated like the prize 1s, only the tonearm and edge of the platter are gold plated i think.

Posted by Wildfir3 on Jan-19-2004 09:41:

btw, seeing the tech-arm in close up now, i really think it's butt ugly... i know, it's very efficient and that's what's important, but still... ugly ugly ugly

Posted by Boomer187 on Jan-19-2004 09:46:

I want platinum ones.

Posted by Dj Thy on Jan-19-2004 13:04:

The picture posted here is from an SL1200LTD, and it's NOT completely gold plated. Only the tonearm and the platter rim and dot's are gold plated, the case is in piano black finish (like the Mk5G). Technics stated that 10000 units of the LTD were made. And if you wonder, it was pre m3d, so technically the LTD was the first one to have the quartz reset.

There are completely gold plated (and so is the mixer). They are only destined for the world champion of the DMC championship, and they are nothing more than mk2's.

The second and third prize are silver and bronze plated mixers

Normally those models are not for sale, but I can imagine multiple champions like Dj Craze could sell their "overstock" on ebay if they wanted.

i don't want to sound like a bitch...

but please please don't post anymore pictures of naked women, i find it offensive and i don't want to have to look at it. it's bad enough that i have to look at T&A on half the people here's avatars.

i asked a mod to remove it so i hope it's gone soon. thanks a bunch, again i dont' want to be bitching but i just don't think it's appropriate.

There are options you can set in your profile to set pictures off, avatars off, signatures off, if that helps. I do that if im surfin from school.

its gone, I took it off . . . I'm suprised I offended anyone, but id never seen anything like that table . . . and if you did notice the title of the pic is MKIII . . . . who knows if this crazy plexiglas thing is the next tech. as far as posting "anymore" pics of naked women, I don't remember doing so in the past . . .

That's correct, that's how the first one came about.
Not sure what's going on in DJ Thy's picks but they don't look right as the gold plating was actually reflective and that looks very matted.
The original DMC champ version was actually that shiny gold colour and was actually about 750 (each when first came out) to buy and was limited edition. Some places still have them as most people thought they were too ugly to buy.

Initially as I remember the mixer awarded was the gold version of the technics but after that I don't recal there being silver or bronze stuff for second and third place, but it could be possible as I did stop watching that comp a while back.
But yes they were just ordinary good ol' mark 2's. The M3 was a natural progression and it wouldn't surprise me if they are giving away the M5G these days.

If anyone is actually looking to buy a chrome coloured deck plate I would actually advise you not to. A friend of mine has two in his shop (behind the counter) and he is constantly having to clean them from finger prints. Whilst they can look really effective, the amount of cleaning maintenance is outrageous.

Cheers
Nem

EDIT - removed a few sentences as I realise I should have been paying more attention when I wrote this post.

Most people were right! I think they look terrible.

The word 'Minging' springs to mind also.
