"Former Australian Test cricketer David Hookes has died in hospital from head injuries suffered when he was bashed in a scuffle outside a Melbourne hotel on Sunday night."

fuckin hell...i got chills down my spine when i saw it
absolute tragedy. Hopefully bouncer laws and shit are reviewed so stuff like this doesnt happen again.

I heard on the grapevine that the bouncer who was charged with the assault was also allegedly on a similar charge pending from another hotel where he works/ed
Apparently they (Hooks and a some other victorian/SA cricketers) had walked away, they were three streets away from the bar, but the bouncers followed them and bashed them for the heck of it.
Fucking disgraceful. 
Completely and utterly senseless. Hopefully justice will be served.
Very sad news, from what I have heard from the news he was only hit once but badly hit his head on the ground when he fell.
They should press charges against the establishment too if they hired him and he already had a pending charge also on him.
That should hopefully set precedent so that nightclub/pubs/etc hire reponsible crowd controllers not just thugs with big egos on a powertrip who would not be employable anywhere else.
I hope this leads to an inquest into the whole entertainment security industry... I very much doubt David is the first person to be seriously injured or killed by a bouncer.

yeah most bouncers suck the dick. ive been in a few disagreements with them before, over basically asking a question. then they bashed the fuck outta me. sad ****s on a power trip, thats all they are.

I always admired David Hookes, he said what he had to say and didn't take a backward step.

murder is an unlikely option because of the issue of premeditation -hence, manslaughter (at the most) 7-10yrs (maybe)

Knowing the Justice System the fag bouncer will get off lightly.
Ur all dreaming, i have complete and utter faith in the aussie legal system, he will get a minimum sentence of 18 months
Think about it, a chick ran over a guy whil sms on her phone, guy died she got off with a suspended sentence...
Because the man who is deceased is famous doesnt mean he should get any special treatment. Sad to say really.

Yee there's no way he'll get murder as there is no way of proving he had the intent on killing him, fucked up shit
sad news, particularly upset my dad who met him in person before, but yet again like in the UK, justice doesn't help those who deserve it
