Sad news....

Posted by BJeT on Jan-19-2004 22:55:

very sad

I heard on the grapevine that the bouncer who was charged with the assault was also allegedly on a similar charge pending from another hotel where he works/ed

Posted by arctic on Jan-19-2004 23:07:

Apparently they (Hooks and a some other victorian/SA cricketers) had walked away, they were three streets away from the bar, but the bouncers followed them and bashed them for the heck of it.

Posted by Ghostface on Jan-19-2004 23:08:

Fucking disgraceful.

Completely and utterly senseless. Hopefully justice will be served.

Posted by calum on Jan-19-2004 23:12:

Very sad news, from what I have heard from the news he was only hit once but badly hit his head on the ground when he fell.

They should press charges against the establishment too if they hired him and he already had a pending charge also on him.

That should hopefully set precedent so that nightclub/pubs/etc hire reponsible crowd controllers not just thugs with big egos on a powertrip who would not be employable anywhere else.

I hope this leads to an inquest into the whole entertainment security industry... I very much doubt David is the first person to be seriously injured or killed by a bouncer.

apparently the maximum jail term the bouncer can get is 5 years! BS.

Posted by wick on Jan-20-2004 06:34:

so so sad what a legend.

yeah most bouncers suck the dick. ive been in a few disagreements with them before, over basically asking a question. then they bashed the fuck outta me. sad ****s on a power trip, thats all they are.

Posted by Sid on Jan-20-2004 06:54:

very sad news !

I always admired David Hookes, he said what he had to say and didn't take a backward step.

The charge will probably be changed though. Manslaughter or murder will probably be on the cards.

R.I.P. Hooksey

Posted by BJeT on Jan-20-2004 11:39:

murder is an unlikely option because of the issue of premeditation -hence, manslaughter (at the most) 7-10yrs (maybe)

other ppl above mentioned the word 'precedent' - it will be very interesting how all of this is handled

Posted by Breeze on Jan-20-2004 12:12:

Knowing the Justice System the fag bouncer will get off lightly.

Posted by narcism on Jan-20-2004 12:43:

Ur all dreaming, i have complete and utter faith in the aussie legal system, he will get a minimum sentence of 18 months
Think about it, a chick ran over a guy whil sms on her phone, guy died she got off with a suspended sentence...
Because the man who is deceased is famous doesnt mean he should get any special treatment. Sad to say really.

Even better, he's pleading not guilty.

Posted by Pointy on Jan-22-2004 10:20:

Yee there's no way he'll get murder as there is no way of proving he had the intent on killing him, fucked up shit

Posted by Ian on Jan-22-2004 11:26:

sad news, particularly upset my dad who met him in person before, but yet again like in the UK, justice doesn't help those who deserve it
