Please Read

In Canada our animal cruelty legislation is very weak and offers little protection for animals, and more importantly barelly deals with the issue by providing minimal sentances. A bill has been proposed that will create stiffer penalties and allow judges to have the freedom to impose a harsher sentance, should they see fit.

Here is the link to a petition in support of the bill please everyone sign it. It doesn't ask for anything aside from a name and e-mail address so it shouldn't matter if you are Canadian or not.

Happy to take part. Many of the states here in the Midwest are much the same way - very lenient. It's really frustrating, considering those who are cruel to animals have a high propensity for other violent crimes. But farm-raised animals has a lot to do with legislation here, so the state lawmakers have been reluctant to do more.
