Party Hat Oceanlab - Satellite (Force 10 Remix)

Ocean Lab - Satellite (Force 10 Remix)

Yeah I know your not supposed to post it on the net but I decided not to submit this for the remix comp as its a little to similar to the original and a bit crap in parts

I was going to let it rot on my HD for all eternity but I have been harrased by certain people to post it anyway.

So here you go

Needs loads of stuff fixing on it, but as I say this was never going to see the light of day anyway so...pfff

6.44 min
9.7MB
192kbps
140bpm

This sounds amazing, but as you said a bit too close to the original. Great work though, that lead sound is very nice.

Posted by Bren-F on Jan-19-2004 21:20:

Thanks,

Wow someone actually likes one of my lead sounds

Posted by DJ_Ampz on Jan-19-2004 22:12:

You might even be better off not sending it in for the remix comp after all

DL'ing now, I'll be back later mate!

Posted by Sean Walsh on Jan-19-2004 22:38:

The weakest part of this track is the vocal, lol. Good job man, I really like this.

Posted by Fundamental on Jan-19-2004 22:54:

This sounds great. Got no idea what you were worried about really. You've dealt with the vocals superbly in my opinion and the lead sound is good.

That "baby" on the build-up kinda confuses my brain though. I think it's because it comes in between beats, and because there is no percussion at the time it puts me off from following the beat in my head. I dunno if anyone else has that problem or it's just me and my stupid brain...

Oh and do you think we can get Justine to re-sing the vocals but say "Lucky Charms" instead of "lucky star", coz that would be mint ok thank you bye.

Posted by ManTrance on Jan-20-2004 10:49:

I agree with above. Don't know what you were worrying about. I love this, tho the vocal could sound a bit better. Bit more effects applied.

Gr8 stuff

Posted by [mart] on Jan-20-2004 23:07:

I don't know what you're so worried about, either! This has really struck a chord with me for some reason, and the original certainly didn't manage that. If I could achieve as professional a sound as you've got here, I wouldn't have any amateur production-related mental anguish! So be happy, and note that it's fast approaching two years since we did 'Awake'...scary, eh?

Posted by Floorfiller on Jan-20-2004 23:23:

hmmm...i think i missed info about this remix contest...anyone can give me info or a link

as far as your tune Bren...

it sounds good...i'm not a big fan of that bassline though...i think it could be better...and really that is just my personal taste...but the sound quality is great...

Posted by Mycron on Jan-21-2004 00:31:

it's very avereage from you, your remix is really empty i think, some parts needs fixing, but all in all good production,

keep on well Bren!

Posted by Psygnosis on Jan-21-2004 04:00:

Great remix, but i think you should turn up the volume on the first vocals that come in...that was my only downer.

This song does indeed sound a bit like the originals order, so basically add more elements to make it sound a bit different but still retaining the Bren F touch.

Posted by Nemesis44 on Jan-21-2004 14:21:

Hmm, very nice remix even if it's close to the original you do get quite a few remixes that are so I wouldn't be too worried about it.

The only thing that I notice as that the vocal sounds as if it's been plonked on top of the track (very dry sounding). I actually think it needs some more work on it and possibly a few effects just to give it a bit more depth.

I'm not sure about the kick sound with this track either but that's just personal taste. Possibly a touch too harsh for the type of track.

Good job though. I would be happy if I could make stuff like this.

Cheers
Nem

sounds nice man... vocals could have been a bit stronger thou.. maybe.. hehe

Posted by TOR on Jan-21-2004 18:24:

kick and bassline are fantastic!

lead is also nice, though it seems to be a bit on the background, i think you used too much reverb or delay for it..

good stuff nonetheless!

Posted by Icone on Jan-21-2004 22:09:

Sounds good as always Bren, really like that harder kick and bassline. The lead is one of your best I think, maybe not the best, but sounds good.

Gotta agree with posted above that it might sound a bit empty in places, but since you're still workin on it

Cheers,
Wim

Beautiful man, really. If this is you on a bad day then, well, I'd love to see your best ever day!

That kick is awesome man. I love it.

By the way, what on earth is she singing about? It just makes no sense IMO.....

Posted by Bren-F on Jan-22-2004 01:13:

Thanks for all the comments

It's funny, I spent hardly any time on this at all compared to the hours spent on the Nothing to live for Remix, yet this has a better response so far

quote:
By the way, what on earth is she singing about? It just makes no sense IMO.....

Just another pointless lovesong I'm afraid.
the Lyrics are:

My love is like footsteps in the snow,
baby
I follow you everywhere you go,
baby
The palest light has come to wake you, (not sure on that line)
but you will never realise,
That I inspire the dreams that guide you
baby

I follow the winds that bring the cold
baby
I light a fire in your soul
baby
The lightest touch of feathers falling
My love may be invisible
But I inspire the dreams that guide you
Baby

You're Half the world away
But in my mind i whisper
every single word you say
and before you sleep at night
You pray to me
your lucky star
your singing satellite

your satellite

You're Half the world away
But in my mind
i whisper every single word you say
and before you sleep at night
You pray to me
your lucky star
Your singing satellite

You're Half the world away
But in my mind
i whisper every single word you say
and before you sleep at night
You pray to me
your lucky star
Your singing satellite

i like the track!
but i cant compare it with the original, because i dont got the original in my mind right now!

but this remix is nice!

Posted by George Kendall on Jan-23-2004 22:52:

something about this really gets me going

which is weird coz I hate the original, and this isn't much different...

but it excites me

Justine Suissa needs to be shot though

Posted by Romain on Jan-24-2004 08:46:

deep kick, great bassline; i like it more than the original i think, though they're not very different; maybe thanks to the powerful lead, and that bassline.
Great job; maybe adding some elements would make it sound more unique.

Posted by Syeker on Jan-24-2004 19:24:

Great kick and lead doesn't sound empty in fact is pretty clean. Good work.

Posted by Bren-F on Jan-25-2004 19:56:

Thanks for all the comments
I'll definatly try to add some more interesting stuff on the next Force 10 outing, give it a bit more depth.

Posted by Endre on Jan-26-2004 10:24:

Posted by CHOMPER on Jan-26-2004 15:24:
