How mutch does a DJ earn these days ?

Hello!

How mutch money do you guys earn in one Night

I know this subject might be alittle sensitive
for some people, but i just want to get an ide
of what a dj can ask for one gig. Im not talking about
famous djs like Pvd,Tiesto etc, i mean more ore less uknown
djs .

/Jre

well dress up like a girl,
act wierd, call yourself boy goerge and u can make 20grand for 2 hours.

i dunno how much a dj makes. all depends on the club, the nite, the promoters, etc. i'd guess a few houndred to a few grand. even if ur not famous but ur well known in ur community u'll get paid more than if u were new. theres no real formula.

if you get to the point where your djing pays for your records,
consider yourself a successful dj =)

Posted by dj alonzo on Aug-01-2001 17:43:

I get about 30$-45$ per hour... but i'm just a kid.

Posted by j_spot on Aug-01-2001 22:02:

I get paid 120 for a 4 hour show. Shockwav gets paid 150 for the same. Tap gets paid 70 to do lights for the 4 hour show..and if I dont wanna DJ and hes with me, he get 70 to do the show... =)

First 4 hours $200 ..........thats the minumum i start at.....even if i spin for less time......then $40 an hour........i did a gig that i got $120 for an extra hour

Posted by Positiva on Aug-05-2001 17:51:

DJ Cheesy and i get paid 150 for the first three hours and then 50 for the next following hours w/a 200$ minimum

Posted by DJ Lac on Aug-05-2001 19:08:

Smiley DJ damn..

You guys should ask for more money. 200 doesn't cut it for a 4 hour set.. I say ask for at least 350-400+ or no show. Those djs that play at parties make like 600 bucks for like 3 hours and its only parties. So I suggest you guys make some negotiations next gig =p

Posted by DJ Cheesy on Aug-05-2001 19:11:

um, yeah, something like that. but thats for mobile dj stuff like weddings and bar mitzvahs.

Posted by DJ Lac on Aug-05-2001 19:14:

Smiley DJ stil

A gig you should make more cuz people just keep on coming and you want that doh badly for you equipment.

Posted by j_spot on Aug-05-2001 19:46:

And if its not my equipment @ all..Ie music and everything is provided by company?

I get paid shit...I know it, but really..I love it, so i wont complain

some djs make massive bank....... like Oakenfold gets around 30grand......for 2 to 6 hours of djing uslaly 2 to 3 hours...there was a article in mixmag about a year ago i think or 6 motnhs ago i dont remember but anyway had many big djs in there and asked them how much they on average make per gig.....Pvd was like 5 to 7 grand a gig,Carl cox was the same...pretty much around 5 to 20 grand depending the time u spin and who u are....... Pvd i heard got 18grand for 7 hour set at Space which is well worth it ...rahter then Oakenfold getting 30 grand for 2 hour shitty set hehehe some of these djs dont deserve that much money but i guess it sthe people who pay them fault ohh well

Posted by SeeK on Aug-07-2001 12:20:

30k for Oakonfold for 2 Hrs??? WTF?? PvD is worth way more than him i rekon. Fuk i would of hired PvD for 14 Hrs instead of Oaky's 2... and pay'd little extra on top ofcourse. hehehe...

cmon man thats not worth it i dont care how long the set is 18 grand is huge (and opakeys 30 for 2 hours!) you could like feed a small african nation...

Posted by DJTJ on Aug-08-2001 17:57:

Mauro Picotto gets 30k for a 2-3 hour set, and I'm talkin UK pounds, so that's like, 40-45k US$! I know this because one of my friends was installing some computers in the office of Richard Carr, who owns Slinky, and he saw it on a board on the wall! I tell you no lie!

Posted by .::GRIFFIN::. on Aug-09-2001 07:07:

well I personally get about 350 per 1 and a half or 2 hour set.

but I am aware that at our biggist club here in salt lake oakie took 17,000 for an hour and a half.... which was bullshit and a half especially since the resident dj SHAWN PHILLIPS tore shit in circles around him...

Oakie is so overrated i rekon.... PvD kicks his ass and doesnt seem to earn anywhere near what he does.... I'd rather PvD over Oakie any day, how about u guys?

Posted by Gloomy on Aug-09-2001 10:56:

One of my friends gets 125 for 1 hour, so he usually spins sets of 3 hours, so that a decent $375 for one evening.
He, if you watch those earnings of Dj's like Paul oakenfold, actually you go thinking about dropping school and go mixing all days long .

I get paid about 150$ for a set. I don't get paid by the hour.... it can be a 2 hour set and it can be a 6 hour set..... doesn't matter.....
the 150$ divide to me and my 2 partners. so I make 50$.....

but I'm a mobile DJ. and I'm young. so that explains the low payment, I guess.........

Posted by .::GRIFFIN::. on Sep-20-2001 09:45:

I take about 500 at a party for up to 2 hours... if its a club more like 450 and all the drinks that I can handle..

depends on the venue and all sortsa shit..

Posted by Mcast84 on Sep-21-2001 00:52:

my bro (DJ Vibez) djs at purple heaven, and he gets paid a couple hundred (100 to 300 dollars, cant remember) for a one hour set. hes been doing it for like 2 years

Posted by Tony Morello on Sep-21-2001 01:27:

yea, i get a flat rate, like j-spot said
150 canadian a show, it could be 2 hours or 7 hours
it doesn't matter though, i love what i do
