I Got A Job!!!!!!

I was actually supposed to metion this ages ago but anyway... I GOT A JOB!!!!!! (yay! my first decent job!)

I've got a fair bit of cash at the moment and i'm wanting to buy some really good equipment. So anyway.....
------------------------------------------------------------------

-What is the best roland keyboard ever?

-What is the best Video-Capture Card ever?
(I'm looking for one that has software with heaps and heaps of options)

-I'm finally gonna buy a decent microphone.
you know, one of the ones that comes with a filter to place in front of it. any good brand-names?

-I already bought myself a Pioneer DVD burner! I'm just wondering if you only need VOB files to burn DVD's.
Also wondering if anybody here has attempted to make a menu for a DVD?

well thats all for now!!!

catchya's later

kay, so, whats the job u got then?

Best roland keyboard? You mean for trance, well that would be the jp-8000 I guess, although the JP-8080 (module) is more popular as it has more polyphony and a vocoder. Better synths out there though, like the virus/indigo.

Jump in the production forum for a full rundown, there are a few threads lying around about this.

Congratulations to you.

If you live in the U.S., that's a great positive sign for our economy. Now we only have 2,399,999 more to go to break even in job losses/gains.

True that...Me, I can't do labor and stuff since I broke my leg in '98, but I go to the gym regularly....

....until today, when my car's battery/alternator died.....

Jennie, make sure you take some pics when you get 'buff'

cool now find me a job too :P

Posted by StealthAssassin on Mar-05-2004 02:48:

If you got all that extra money you shoulda bought a Mac cause it already has a DVD Burner and it has software to make DVD's preinstalled. But anywho you don't need VOB files to burn a DVD and menus are easy if you use iDVD not sure how hard they are on PC side or DVD studio pro (shouldn't be too hard). And as for the Mic I don't really have any brand suggestions just make sure it is an XLR connection.

BTW congrats on the new job!

Posted by meneedit on Mar-05-2004 02:51:

thanks

XLR connection?

It's a balanced connection, Pro quality...not as widely used as 1/4 inch but it is better quality than 1/4 inch.

Posted by meneedit on Mar-05-2004 03:16:

yeeah.... at the moment im having enough trouble just trying to get rid of noises that are evident when I record silences....

freaky shit

Posted by meneedit on Mar-05-2004 03:26:

do you know anything about video capture cards?

that was the most important question on this thread

can't wait to get a capture card it's just that I dont want to waste my money on something shite

Im preferably after a capture card that has heaps of options in the software, such as:

-MPEG output capability
-Window -> Always on top
-Aspect Ratio Settings
-Quality Settings
-Recording Timer
-Text Overlay

doesnt have to be all those settings just most!

Anybody with a capture card feel free to reply...

Go with a balanced 1/4 inch or the XLR it will eliminate most if not all noise (hums, hisses etc.)

Well it's not the best but it's hella expensive

Blackmagic design Decklink HD 1995 $

You could also try an avid mojo "only" 1695$

Posted by meneedit on Mar-08-2004 22:03:

Thanks Jdat...
