"airbase style" claps, ideas ?
hi !!
i was wondering if anyone here had ideas about how to reproduce the famous claps airbase uses in his traxx and remixes. Those claps really make the track smooth and uplifting at the same time. But i can't get this sort of sound
Any ideas ????
ask him urself, hes on the forums, usually in the german ones i think, also check out the amateur production place, he might have a few thoughts there...

I don't exactly know what clap you say, but I guess what kind of, that claps so sustained that they join with the open hat, aren't they?
First, that kind of clap you may use a standard clap sample. Then, if you want to add some reverb, try with a gated one, a bit diffused but with a narrow stereo. If you use a gated reverb you will get a longer clap (sharp ended) but without dirtying the mix too much.
But the attack of the clap is still too louder than the rest. You should make use of a multiband compressor or a peakstopper. If you choose to try a multiband comp you should emphasize (compress and add some gain) the bands from 1 Khz to 6 Khz and, especially from 6 Khz to the highest freq, with large release times and attack all you own!
A clap is also very benefited by compressing all the drums together, so that clap will grow when the kick ends and until the next kick.
I'm also looking for more tricks to improve claps and rythm loops.
awesome advices shockwave !! thanks alot, i will be trying it this evening
put the standard plugin in cubase overdrive i think its called along with some reverb and your away

Hello!
I dont do anthing special with my claps. And no, its not a clap from the reason sound bank. I run claps as wav-samples from elsewhere.
The only thing I can think of is to put a compressor, or even two, on the clap, with attack=0 and then have quite a short release. That gives the clap a pulsing sound. To that, add some unison and reverb. And there you have it!
There you have it. But i said something similar in reason, anyway, thanks for the info
wow ! a reply from airbase himself !
i love this place
thanX for those awesome advices, i'm getting to it now
thanXXX !!
and how do you add a unison effect on a wav sample?
what plugin can do that?
and it can be useful to apply it on leads...
