For Guv Lovers AND Haters

Check out how the Guv did at the ~awards~

Posted by angelgirl on Jan-26-2004 20:45:

I sigh in disbelief that the club song of the year is
"In Da Club" - 50 Cent

Posted by DeE420 on Jan-26-2004 20:58:

HAHA!!

2. Satisfaction - Benny B

Posted by Rocco on Jan-26-2004 21:04:

YES Robbie R is on the list!

To be honest, do you think any of the ppl that are part of the informed scene took place in the voting here? (or those that did certainly are in the minority.)

Who really considers Money, Plastique, Palazzo, etc edm clubs? They are mainly top40 schlock.

As for the Guvernment, when you hold 5000 and up depending on how much of the complex is open, plus an 8 yr run, you'll take 1st based on sheer number of clients. Even if the entire dedicated scene of partiers voted against them, they'd take top honours.

I'm thankfull System was left on the down-lo, since the idiot factor shall hopefully continue to converge weekly on the Guv than my beloved bass-ment.

This poll has as much relevance to the scene, and as much clout, as the recent poll that "downloading music is on the DECREASE".

Man, anyone check out their forums?

Looks like Urban/Euro/Freestyle are the main attractions for them..

My sentiments exactly! Just because a club is popular, does not make it the best IMO. I guess the arguement that the best club is the "most popular" can be made. However, how many guv regulars have experienced the whole spectrum of clubs that TO has to offer? I find that guv lovers (NOT ALL!!) tend to be a rather close-minded group.

Posted by rabbitjoker on Jan-26-2004 22:31:

bah.

As long as I'm with my friends - I luv the guv!

NICE ONE! couldn't have said it any better myself! I agree...keeping System on the down-lo means the top40 Euro schlockers will be kept out of my hair!

call me crazy if u will, but i think these results are a good representation of the clubbing community in Toronto. we may not like them, but we're not the only clubbers in this city and this thing is meant to represent all facets of clubbing, whether it be EDM, Urban, Top40, Euro or whatever. i'm sure there's an awards list out there which only categorizes clubs that we frequent and DJ's that we like..

and yes i think In Da Club deserves to be #1. reprazent! BOH!

In addition to that, I think there should be an award for the best lazer/special effects/visuals system ... and there only ONE club in Ontario that has the best one in that category (thats why the Guv didnt even bother to make the category) - VIVA!

Posted by StereoPrincess on Jan-27-2004 18:43:

go shorty! its your birfday!

Posted by samhouse on Jan-27-2004 19:39:

good thing you said (NOT ALL).....
the fans of the guv who go there for the MUSIC and nothing else DO appreciate the quality of some of the other great clubs this city has to offer including System soundbar.

Ok CRAZY, did you even check out their site my good man? I'll agree with you that this certainly is the case for aspects of the T.O club scene, however if you check out the site and forums for this particular group, they are hardly a tranceaddict, houseaddict, or clubculture .coms size of the local community in terms of membership and dedicated edm partiers.

They are perhaps the equivilent of the poseurs every scene has, whether its disco, punk, trance, house, techno, etc. They are the platinum corprate seats @ your ACC, the 3 piece suit @ Industry, looking @ the spectacle, clueless as to what it really means.

okay but then who's to say their list is law anyways. if we don't care much for who they are then we shouldn't care much for what they vote for!
