Why is PVD NorthAmerica agents so hard to work with?!

We've been trying for the last year to have Paul Van Dyk booked, but the North American agents just don't seem to give a crap. We've talked to the UK agents and they are totally cool, but can't do anything for us.

It's not that we dont have a rep, the money etc.. just seems you have to be in the "IN" crowd or something to get him.

Past DJ's:
Darude (laugh if you want, it was a fun show)
Polywog
DJ Brian a couple times
Shy Brothers
DJ Macgyver
Ben Shir
there's more too but I dont want to bore you all

Mind you this is for Regina SK.. and yes, we do have a scene there and its pretty damn wikkid.

Posted by j_spot on Jan-27-2004 01:26:

nobody can really get him
all recent shows have been Benson and hedges, and they pay out the ass for it!

Posted by AlphaGroove on Jan-27-2004 01:32:

I suppose, lots of big names doing those loarge corporate contracts

maybe we should contact then about coming here..
hrm

No offense, but no one on that list comes even close to ranking near PVD.

That said, it's almost impossible to get him. Apparently you have to pretty much book 3-4 other DJs on their roster before they'll consider you.

His North American Agents are crap, I've tried dealing with them for interviews and they plain just suck, Markus is good to talk to though

Posted by j_spot on Jan-27-2004 02:49:

can you blame her? she manages the most in demand DJ(Id say)
his draw is immensly more than tiesto or digger or armin or anybody really.
Why not make them pay out the ass for profiting off your talent?

Wink

Our track record consists of:

Tiesto
Armin
Sasha
Digweed
Ferry
Judge Jules
Deep Dish
Sander Kleinenberg
Mauro Picotto
Tall Paul

And many many more.... that's 10 of the 20 top dj's ranked by DJ Mag. And yes, we still have trouble booking PVD. Don't take it too harsh.

Posted by AlphaGroove on Jan-27-2004 03:49:

*sigh*
if only the partiers knew all the trouble it is to get big names in and stuff

and as for our previous line up.. this is Regina SK - population under 260,000

your wrong jspot i think tiesto draws more people than pvd

Posted by ZinG on Jan-27-2004 04:41:

I heard lots of bad stuff about PAM
and seriously if she didn't have PVD her agency she would be begging people to book what's on her roster:P
but thats just my opinion

allright

k, im from peg, and we providing the money is there,we can get anyone pretty well, PvD isnt the most saught after Tiesto most certainly is right now IMO, and right fully so, did u check out tiesto live @ inner city 03, regardless, regina will not draw a big enough crowd to make a profit on a name like Van Dyk, neither would winnipeg, to many fuckin farmers ect.....Soundwave allready brought Gielen here and had a bad turn out in a trance energy style of venue , its just the way it is, there is nothin for numbers or electronica on the praries, to much rural run off into the cities......people who are scared to be out of the ordinary, thus populating the crap top 40 bars...as far as im concerned they can stay there, they all make me sick to my stomach.

DJ's

Paul Van Dyk is a class act but there are so many other djs that play the same tracks for a lot cheaper price. As long as you get the word out on who is coming its anyones ball game.

Some DJ's who are just as good or better:
1. Ferry Corsten
2. Lange
3. Pulser
4. M.I.K.E
5. Above & Beyond

A person who I think would do well for the whole city is ATB. He is more mainstream but plays good trance sets from what I have heard by his radio sets.

heh

not so sure about atb, but Lange or someone like that would be def. in order...

Posted by AlphaGroove on Jan-27-2004 06:27:

We've tried for Corsten aswell, but I dont remember the details of that. With PVD we had atleast booked some of the DJs through the same agency.

Regina parties(the larger ones every 2 months or so) on average have more peolpe then most winnipeg ones.

kind of funny eh?

Posted by Shad0wmaster on Jan-27-2004 06:30:

My knowledge of booking big DJs is pretty limited, so i don't really know what i'm talking about. but based on what I'm reading here, I'll suggest this: if PVD's agents are being assholes, then fuck 'em and go book another big DJ who's as good or better. I suggest Ferry Corsten or Armin.

Maybe once PVD's agents see that his competition is getting all of Western Canada's gigs, they'll be a little easier to deal with.
