Dunno New Internet Explorer Security Hole

After the constant discoveries of holes and Microsoft's refusal to admit there are holes in IE, I ask: Why do people keep using Internet Explorer? I don't get it.

Read for yourself:

Demo of hole:

Yup, anyone can pretty much spoof a file type, let you think its a .pdf .html or whatever when it's actually a .exe and boom you got a nice chance for viruses to get in. GO IE!!

Stop using that crap browser and save me some time wasted on useless tech-support calls!

yup! I think the average user is unaware of the many different types of browsers available out there other than IE.
Either that or just pure laziness

IE ain't going anywhere - yes its full of memory leaks but as long as sites work in IE thats all that matters (for the most part)

Whoa, you gotta be joking me. It's attitude like that that cripples the progress of technology, in this case the web. As developers, If we continue to bend over for products that break standards and instead ignore those that follow them, we are slowing down progress. Ignoring IE would be stupid, it's here , most people use it and it's staying here for a while, but i think we should educate those other uses on what is happening, stop their ignorance. Example; Imagine all the kick ass advances, appz, and sites we would have now if JavaScript, css, PNGs, etc were supported by all browsers as described by the standards? yah less time would be wasted in making sure it works in all freaking Number of OS's and browers out there, plus it'd make part of my job a lot easier

yea i use that i'm just wondering how accurate it is..

I use Awstats, Webalizer, Analog, and Web Log experts.. and they all give me different stats.

Posted by Swamper on Jan-29-2004 19:52:

I use Urchin

Webtrends used to free back in the day and that one was amazing, if you get a chance, and can find the standalone PC version you can have it analyze your logs offsite and it compiles nice stats too.
