need help with making a set...

im gonna play at this club in two weeks.. my frst "gig"... the reason i put gig in "s is bcaus its a meeting with other fellow djs from the norwegian dj club... im not sure how long im gonna play, but i know 4 a fact that 5-600 peepz are coming... i know how to beatmatch and all that shit.. what i need is a proper set.. i dont want to start playing alot of badass traxx, ending in that im the only one in the club, so ive collected some (old) favourite trax...
tell me if its bad

01. rank 1>such is life
02. I-ching>the forgotten dream
03. Nevada>touched by the hand
04. Rapid eye>never going back
05. Cyber human>the scene
06. trinity>into the blue
07. time sliders>les lacs des alpes
08. plastix>release
09. alpha prime>distorted reality
10. starchild>redemption

i know its kinda rippoff from dj stigma, but what the hell

if anybody got any suggestions or a set i could play,
just post it here..

U shouldnt need someone to make you a set, thats what your for, u should know what u like love and hate, whats new whats old and what will and wont work.

Go by your passion or your not expressing what u love.

i think its nice.. starts with stringy shit and then its like uplifting all the way.. almost at least.. i think its a good set, but i want 2 hear what u guys think

just pick a lot of tracks that flow nicely together
and it really matters on the evergy that's going on inthe club that night
if it's really pumpin, a lot of nu-nrg and hard house should do the trick... imo

Posted by j_spot on Aug-03-2001 22:52:

NU-NRG n hard house rule! dude...u r makin a playlist in advance?? umm.try this, pick some starting tracks, and have the fifth be something that end mellow, or can be cut out @ a high point. If they respond to the mellow..go mellow, otherwise...kick it into high gear, and play the bad ass tracks. Reading the crowd is your job. Do it well and they will love you!!!

Alfi....Know what you spin and love what you spin..and don't worry about what others will think.....If you love what you spin and show that you are confident, and you are there saying this is my music that I love and you will love it too, it will rub off on people...Rule number one at being a profession al DJ or anything...you know how to handle all situations....including tracklist

Posted by itsamemario on Aug-04-2001 09:49:

ok... thanx.. all ya peepz helped me alot

Posted by sot on Aug-04-2001 16:58:

alfi.....dont plan yer mix. do what ever you feel like spinning that night cuz i swear when u get to the club u will go ahh im in mood for some hard shit so u play hard shit see how the crowd moves to yer traxx. bad thing about playing all uplifiting/mellow traxx at a club is to many breaks. u gotta keep the peeps on there feet dancin the nite away so play some hard shit and some uplifting not all uplifting.

well goodluck on it

and when you guys mean hard, it is.....

Posted by djdawn on Aug-05-2001 08:58:

somewhere between Nukleuz, Overdrive, BXR and Tracid Trax, depending on the kind of "hard" YOU like.

Posted by itsamemario on Aug-05-2001 09:41:

no tidy trax?

Posted by djdawn on Aug-05-2001 10:04:

i think tidy trax is "somewhere between" those I mentioned...maybe add Axis to the list (hi Bellie!)
