im beginning to drift away...
from trance, i used to love trance, listened to it everyday and didnt get influenced by any other genre...
but now i find that i dont listen to trance as much and i need help.
i recently found myself to like rock/drum n bass more, eg. muse, slayer, thrice, bad company, grooverider etc
whereas i used to listen to pvd, tiesto, dave 202, gouryella, flutlicht, atb, marco v etc (from the TE livesets and whatavya)
but i just never listen to that anymore, purely because it just doesnt give me the same rush anymore, trance has changed dramatically, it used to be all melodic and thumping, now its getting proggy and shitty. bit like techno really. or im not looking hard enuff for trance, because ive kinda came out of the cycle, im not up to date anymore...
i mean the only trance set ive listened to recently is the pvd - live @ energy 2003 set along with the others, dave 202/tatana
all the new trance thats coming out isnt new, its just basslines with a weak kick etc, no general melody, just shit synths and more basslines, its beginning to sound like house and techno...which is y i need help.

I think a lot of us who have been listening to trance for a while are starting to get bored of it. I barely listen to it anymore. I haven't gone towards the genres you have, but I have moved towards Techno a lot. Trance just doesn't enthrall me like it used to. Everyone's tastes shift over time. I wouldn't feel bad about it.
oh wow, it isnt just me then...
but the genres i got into r like metal, symphonic rock and urban(?) drum n bass (shy fx/dillinja/trace etc)
now thats saying something from a guy who used to listen to shit like alice deejay/sash etc
i used to love that shit in the summer, i guess it could be a weather thing...
PANACEA PWNS YOU!
Trance is boring, I agree. I haven't updated on my trance albums in a year.
I think almost everyone goes through this and I don't see it as wandering from trance but rather an exploration of the full EDM genre. Some people come back to trance, others find a new niche. As long as you're listening to EDM I believe it's all a part of the same family.
I listen to alot of punk/metal/hardcorepunk and stuff but also trance , i like trance more in summer so it's def a weather thing. Bands like Thrice , atreyu , mxpx , saves the day , jimmy eat world etc are a nice listen overall , rock on

sometimes i love hardstyle , then rock , then trance.
im with you bro
trance, just isn't the same.
......
only EDM im really listening to is prog, and I refuse to become addicted/trainspotter, I feel that was a big part of me beginning to get bored of trance.
I find myself listening to more progressive and variations of house these days. The ASOT sound doesn't satisfy me anymore.

I never listen to trance anymore. Sure, I listen to my old mp3s from 1999/2000 now and then. But I never download/buy new trance.
I'm listening mostly to progressive and house when it comes to electronic music. But I'm also getting more into other genres specially breakbeat and ambient.
And of course, there is rock. My favourite bands are Radiohead and Motorpsycho. I like progressive, noisy, shoegazer and space rock. These genres reminds infact of electronic music.
Top albums atm:
DJ Shadow - The Private Press
Motorpsycho - Trust Us
Orbital - Work (1989 - 2002)
Top vinyls atm:
Yunus Guvenen - Invasion EP [Bedrock]
Plump DJs - Pray For You [FingerLickin]
We seem to have these threads on a daily basis now...
I guess this was the perfect post for me to start with... I havnt posted in probally a year. I feel like theres something missing, I cant get the same rush anymore either. I find myself exploring a lot of classic rock, rock and punk. Im trying to get back into the loop, looking for some new stuff to get... But I guess im not alone...
nothing wrong with drum n bass
now slayer pffffftttttt

Trance has changed...YES :-(
Look at Armin for example... what a shame! He totally changed his style and now he sucks big time imo
i lost faith in trance a long time ago. It just all sound the same to me. same process for every tune.
I stick to techno with regards to edm. I also listen to U2 as they are quality.
I like a lot of music nowadays, but techno mainly as i aim to dj some day.
it's not good to be concentrated on to just one genre.. and i think that from time to time you simply feel the need to listen other type of music... i think it's common to all people

Nice songs mate , very nostalgic
Always listening to the same type of music makes you dumb.
I started on EDM listening to trance. Then i moved techno for about a year and a half, then six months in the house scene. Then i radically changed to about a year and half in psytrance. Now i'm going back to house, lovin' it
But i hear on a weekly basis techno, drum n bass and some classical music
along with a few cheesy pop songs from the airwaves.
i go through shitloads of phases...
it's no big deal...most of us go through it (NOT ALL)
i go from trance...to house...trance...to 80's...trance...to classic rock...trance...to chillout...trance...to alternative...trance...to breakbeats...
you get the point
it's good to be diverse..adds spice to life
yea sometimes it's good to take a break from trance
sometimes I bring up some rock/alternative like
Blink (I was the biggest Blink fan back in the days before I got into trance)
or some JPop or KPop like
Utada Hikaru, Ayumi, Hyolee, Mai K, Amuro Namie
but for a long while ive been hooked on rock/metal/drum n bass and everytime i go trance hunting, i seem to just download more rock and metal (dnb is hard to find) and i enjoy it more...which is rather worrying...
euphoric leads and bouncy bass doesnt exist anymore...its all benny bassi or whoever the hell he is with the gay synths/technical basslines and shit like that.
im sorry but that wasnt the future i saw for 'trance'
its kinda moulded into a prog-house-techno thing
i wish ferry and tiesto would get back together and be gouryella, that seems like a fairly accurate definition of trance imo.
everyone likes gouryella, maybe not all their tracks, but ferry and tijs did pump out the euphoric leads/melodys.
-end of random rambling.
